The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Department of Education (Seduc), has been positioning the State at the center of international discussions about the future of education, with innovative projects developed by students from the public network. To strengthen strategic actions that unite artificial intelligence, educational technology, and climate literacy, the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb) received, this Thursday (14), representatives from Croatia, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The visit, coordinated by Seduc, included representatives from the Croatian company Stemi, responsible for a pilot project teaching Artificial Intelligence (AI) aimed at students in the final years of Elementary and High School in the state network. The proposal seeks to stimulate digital skills, computational thinking, and the practical application of AI in the school environment.

“Ciseb was created to be more than just a physical space: it is a living laboratory, where education in Pará connects with the most advanced developments in the world. Welcoming representatives from Croatia, the OECD, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) means opening our doors to exchanges that can redefine how we prepare our students for the future. We are talking about bringing artificial intelligence into the classroom, developing critical and computational thinking, and at the same time, strengthening climate literacy so that our children and youth understand and face the environmental challenges that are already part of our present. It is proof that Pará is not just a receiver of global trends, but a protagonist capable of influencing public policies and inspiring other regions,” highlighted the coordinator of Ciseb, Rafael Herdy.

In addition to the Croatian company, the visit included consultants from the OECD, who, in partnership with Environmental Education from Seduc and the IDB, are conducting an experimental assessment of Climate Literacy in about 80 schools in the state network. The study measures students' knowledge level about climate change and sustainability, with the potential to integrate the topic into the international PISA assessment.

The program included a visit to the Ciseb facilities, cultural presentations by students from the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias State School, where the Innovation Center is located, and practical demonstrations of the technological projects developed by the students.

“Ciseb is an action by Seduc that has already gained international recognition, whether through awards or its ability to attract external cooperation. We have received partners from French Guiana, international companies, and other Brazilian states interested in collaborating with education and technology in Pará, in addition to the environmental agenda. We are very pleased to showcase a project that is a successful public policy and that will advance even further,” emphasized the Deputy Secretary of Network Management and Collaboration Regime of Seduc, Diego Maia.

The representative of Stemi, Marin Trosej, praised the structure of Ciseb and reinforced the potential impact of the partnership.

“We are very impressed with the Innovation Center. This type of initiative transforms lives. Our project with Seduc is about teaching Artificial Intelligence, aiming to bring this knowledge to the State and, in the future, to other regions of Brazil. A space like this makes the project tangible, as technology is already integrated into the school routine here in Pará,” he stated.

The visit reinforces the role of Ciseb as a strategic bridge between Pará and international partners, consolidating the State as a protagonist in discussions about education, technology, and sustainability in the global scenario.

Center for Innovation - The Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education integrates the Public Policy of Education for the Environment, Sustainability, and Climate of Seduc. The space is equipped with modern environments, prepared for the continuous training of teachers and to provide students with innovative experiences in their daily school life.

Currently, the state network has three units of Ciseb, one in Belém, located at the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias Full-Time State School; in Icoaraci, at the Mestra Idalina Rodrigues Pereira Bilingual Full-Time State School; and in São Brás, at the Augusto Meira Full-Time State School, which was completely rebuilt and delivered this year.
