The State University of Pará (Uepa) will participate in the 28th Pan-Amazon Book Fair and Multivoices with two special spaces: the booth of Uepa's Publisher (Eduepa) and the Mobile Dome of the Pará Planetarium "Sebastião Sodré da Gama," coordinated by the Center for Science and Planetarium of Pará (CCPA), a unit linked to the University.

The event will take place from August 16 to 22, at Hangar - Center for Conventions and Fairs of the Amazon, in Belém, honoring the writer and poet Wanda Monteiro and the composer and creator of the búfalo-bumbá, Master Damasceno. Admission is free, from 9 am to 10 pm, with entry until 9 pm.

Launches - In this 28th edition of the Fair, which encompasses "Voices of Poetics and Enchantment, Voices of Climate - COP30, Voices of Diversity and Inclusion, Voices of Childhood and Youth, Voices of Pará Writers, Cabanas Voices, and Voices of Ancestral Knowledge," the Eduepa booth will gather launches, titles from different areas of knowledge, and actions to encourage reading, valuing the academic and literary production of the university community.

According to the Pro-Rector for Research and Graduate Studies, Professor Luanna Fernandes, this year's participation reflects the University’s commitment to science, culture, and sustainable development, in tune with the debates leading up to COP30 (the world conference on climate change).

The Book Fair reaches its 28th edition echoing the voices of enchantment, climate, and ancestry

Activities - "At the Uepa Publisher booth, the public will find a diverse program, with thematic workshops, presentations of undergraduate courses and vocational tests, dissemination of technical products from graduate studies, book launches, and cultural showcases. In the Mobile Planetarium space, visitors will be able to participate in immersive sessions that bring the public closer to scientific knowledge in a playful way, awakening interest in environmental and technological issues that directly dialogue with the objectives of COP30," informed Luanna Fernandes.

She also emphasized that the Fair is a strategic space to bring scientific production closer to the young public. "Even though a large part of the visitors consists of Basic Education students, it is precisely at this moment that science can gain concrete meaning and inspire trajectories. Presenting Uepa's scientific production in an accessible and interactive way shows that research responds to real challenges, especially in the Amazon context," she emphasized.

Astronomy - The Mobile Dome of the Planetarium will provide the public with an interactive experience of 360° sky observation, without leaving the ground. With free sessions of approximately 20 minutes, the attraction is aimed at all ages, with accessible language and a focus on popularizing science and astronomy.

At the Fair, the program will include the session "Dark Side of Light," addressing the impacts of artificial lighting and the phenomenon of light pollution, offering the public the opportunity to contemplate a simulated sky free from this interference. Sessions will occur every 30 minutes, with a maximum capacity of 20 people.
