Ideflor-Bio and Ufra strengthen partnerships for research, extension, and teaching in Pará
The meeting aimed to strengthen applied research, community training, knowledge exchange, and the creation of joint projects that can generate a positive impact in the areas of conservation and environmental management.

The Institute of Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio) received, on Tuesday (12), the visit of the pro-tempore rector of the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra), Professor Janae Gonçalves, and the director of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (ICA) of Ufra, Professor Gracialda Ferreira. The meeting aimed to strengthen partnerships between the institutions, aiming at the joint development of research, extension, and teaching activities in strategic areas aligned with the competencies of each agency.
The delegation was welcomed by the president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto, by the Management Advisor, Lena Pinto, and by the technical advisor, Thiago Valente. Also participating in the meeting was the president of the Amazon Foundation for Support of Studies and Research (Fapespa), Professor Marcel Botelho, who has previously served as rector of Ufra and emphasized the importance of integrating academic and governmental efforts for the sustainable development of Pará.

During the meeting, possibilities for technical cooperation were discussed, involving the sustainable use of natural resources, strengthening applied research, community training, knowledge exchange, and the creation of joint projects that can generate a positive impact in the areas of conservation and environmental management.
Opportunities - According to the pro-tempore rector of Ufra, Professor Janae Gonçalves, the rapprochement between the university and Ideflor-Bio opens new perspectives for scientific advancement and the training of qualified human resources. “Ufra is committed to the Amazon and sustainable development. Working together with Ideflor-Bio means expanding our reach and generating concrete results for the society of Pará,” she stated.
For the president of Ideflor-Bio, Nilson Pinto, the partnership represents a strategic gain for public policies on conservation and sustainable use in the state. “Ufra is an academic and scientific reference in the Amazon. This union of efforts is essential for us to transform knowledge into practical actions that benefit both the environment and the communities that depend on it,” he highlighted.
Exchange of Experiences - The director of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences of Ufra, Professor Gracialda Ferreira, emphasized that the interaction between academic research and environmental management is essential to face the challenges of the region. “Our courses and projects have much to contribute to the demands of Ideflor-Bio. By combining our capabilities, we can amplify the impact of our actions and offer innovative solutions for the territory of Pará,” she said.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the institutions reaffirmed their interest in quickly advancing the formalization of cooperation agreements and the creation of joint work agendas, with the expectation that the first integrated initiatives will begin to be implemented later this year.
