Six artisanal producers assisted by the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company (Emater-Pará) participated this week in a meeting between representatives of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas) and other state agencies, at the São José Liberto Space in Belém.

The creative fair was part of the program, themed "Bioeconomy of the Amazon: scaling a sustainable transition,” during the “Amazon Climate Week.” The event addressed concrete and innovative solutions based on sustainability and other methods of studies and initiatives aimed at a more sustainable future and economic growth for the State.

Elizonete Lisboa sold artisanal jams. “I am very happy for the invitation from Emater, as I am assisted by the Belém office. This 'Climate Week' event talks about bioeconomy, and my product fits perfectly because I work with sustainability using the best we have in our Pará, which are our fruits, our wealth. It was a great success because the public also embraced the fair with our products,” said the entrepreneur.

Emater is part of the Management Committee of the State Bioeconomy Plan (PlanBio), whose members participated as listeners and witnessed the launch of the plan's seal.

Valuation - For artisan Maria Dias, who produces bio-jewelry, being involved in discussions about sustainable economic activities is a moment of valuing the work developed by her and other entrepreneurs. “This event was important because we are hearing people talk about bioeconomy and entrepreneurship. In addition to selling our products, we are having the opportunity to feel more encouraged to undertake. It was a valuable opportunity for us,” she stated.

Representatives from the State Secretariat for Racial Equality and Human Rights (Seirdh), State Secretariat for Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap), State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), State University of Pará (Uepa), Pará Economic Development Company (Codec), and State Secretariat of Finance (Sefa) also participated, along with representatives from the Government of Rondônia, the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (Ipam), and the World Resources Institute (WRI).
