This Thursday afternoon (17) was especially exciting for student Samiah Lopes from the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias State School. She participated in the seminar "AI in Basic Education: Building National References," held in Brasília (DF). During the event, Samiah joined the panel "Artificial Intelligence, Learning, and Curriculum: Promoting Students' Digital Skills," representing Pará with enthusiasm from the students' perspective on the use of technology in education.

"It was a very cool and special experience for me. Having my opinion and experience with artificial intelligence recognized as a public school student from the Amazon is something very important for us. It shows that we can also occupy these spaces and be alongside important people in education. I really liked it," said the student.

Representation – The invitation to represent Pará came in recognition of Samiah's prominence in the field, especially for winning the silver medal at the 1st National Artificial Intelligence Olympiad (Onia). This achievement highlights the talent and leadership of the student in applying artificial intelligence in education.

The nomination came after a visit from representatives of the Ministry of Education (MEC) to the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), an initiative of the State Department of Education of Pará (Seduc), between June 25 and 27, 2025. During this meeting, the MEC representative had the opportunity to closely observe the projects and initiatives of the Center, which stand out for their pedagogical and technical quality, as well as their commitment to innovation and sustainability in basic education. It was in this context that the student's nomination was made, recognizing her potential and dedication.

At Ciseb, students from state and municipal public networks can participate in immersion programs in technology, innovation, and sustainability, with an emphasis on curricular learning and the development of new skills. Public school teachers have access to training, lectures, advisory services, and technical-pedagogical support for implementing innovative projects in their schools.

The student's parents, Danielle Pinheiro and Williams Lopes, followed their daughter online. The mother, happy for her daughter's opportunities, expressed her joy in seeing the fruits of Samiah's efforts and the recognition she has achieved.

"We are very happy for Samiah's participation as a panelist in this Artificial Intelligence seminar, primarily for the trust that Seduc and Ciseb placed in her to represent the students of public schools in Pará, which we understand as recognition of her effort and competence as a participant of the Center. We were a bit apprehensive at first, that instinct of a mother and father, but in the end, we were very proud. Even though it was her first participation in such a large event, she managed to express herself clearly, sharing her experiences at Onia and Ciseb, as well as her expectations regarding AI from the student's perspective," said the mother.

Seminar – Coordinated by the Basic Education Secretariat (SEB) of the Ministry of Education (MEC) and in partnership with UNESCO in Brazil and the Regional Center for Studies on the Development of the Information Society (Cetic.br | NIC.br), the meeting proposes the collaborative construction of strategies for the use of artificial intelligence in basic education.

The event, which takes place in the auditorium of the National Institute for Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), brings together specialists, public managers, teachers, researchers, and representatives of civil society over two days. Together, they will contribute ideas, experiences, and proposals to guide the ethical, critical, and pedagogical integration of AI into Brazilian educational policies.

The seminar continues until Friday (18), being broadcast live on the MEC's YouTube channel.
