Security forces in Pará seize nearly 10 tons of drugs in the first half of 2025
With assertive strategies, such as investments in technology and intelligence actions, Pará achieves success in drug seizures and dismantling criminal groups, with an increase of over 37% compared to 2024
Pará recorded, from January to June 2025, the seizure of 9,893.705 kilograms of narcotics (marijuana and cocaine), accounting for a 37.68% increase in quantity compared to the first half of 2024, when the State seized 7,185.144 kg of drugs. The data was released this Tuesday (15) by the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the Undersecretariat for Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac).
The significant seizure of drugs throughout the State results from the State government's investments in technology and equipment, the work of intelligence agencies, investigations, and integrated actions by the security forces of Pará. With assertive strategies, Pará achieves success in drug seizures and dismantling criminal groups, highlighted Ualame Machado, State Secretary for Public Security and Social Defense.

“We continue to advance in dismantling drug trafficking in Pará, based on assertive and strategic work. Only in the first half of 2025, we have already seized nearly 10 tons of drugs, a considerable increase compared to the first half of 2024, which shows that we are on track to close another year with a historic seizure. For example, 2024 was the year we had the highest number of drug seizures in the history of Pará, with over 13 tons. In six and a half years of new strategies and continuous work, we have managed to seize over 50 tons of drugs, demonstrating the efficiency of the security strategies adopted since the beginning of the administration are on the right path,” emphasized the head of Segup.

Historic results - The investigative work, investments in equipment, structures, training of agents, and strategic actions to combat drug trafficking resulted in the largest seizure of narcotics in the history of Pará in 2024, totaling 13,239.967 kg, consisting of 10,356.607 kg of marijuana and 2,883.360 kg of cocaine, an increase of 44.53% compared to the same period in 2023, when 9,156.584 kg of drugs were seized - 5,895.234 kg of marijuana and 3,261.350 kg of cocaine.
In the first half of 2025, there has already been a seizure of 9,893.705 kilograms of drugs, consisting of 5,092.246 kg of cocaine and 4,801.459 kg of marijuana.

Monitoring - According to the head of Segup, Pará has a vast river network, as well as several land routes, which are points used for the flow of narcotics. The main drug passage points are mapped and analyzed daily by Segup, through Siac, in conjunction with the Civil and Military police, which act in actions resulting in large seizures and dismantling of criminal groups.
“We map and monitor, through intelligence agencies, strategic points, which has made all the difference in recent years, resulting in large seizures. When the drug manages to pass unnoticed, we monitor it during its route and, subsequently, we can make the arrest. An investment that has significantly assisted us in this is the river bases, which operate daily on specific routes for those coming from states like Amapá and Amazonas. In this way, we are always well positioned and working on constant strategies to curb and inhibit trafficking in Pará,” emphasized Ualame Machado.
