Belém receives investment for the implementation of bilingual tourist signage aiming for COP30
The initiative includes the installation of 721 bilingual vertical tourist signage plates, which will be distributed along 28 tourist circuits in the municipalities of Belém and Ananindeua, including the districts of Icoaraci, Outeiro, and Mosqueiro.

The capital of Pará took another important step towards preparing to host the 30th United Nations Climate Conference (COP30) in 2025. At a ceremony held this Thursday (10) at the auditorium of the Superintendence of Amazon Development (Sudam), the contract was signed authorizing the implementation of the new tourist signage in Belém.
The initiative includes the installation of 721 bilingual vertical tourist signage plates, which will be distributed along 28 tourist circuits in the municipalities of Belém and Ananindeua, including the districts of Icoaraci, Outeiro, and Mosqueiro. Of the total, 611 plates will have a projected arm support and another 110 will have a simple support. The goal is to standardize the signage in the region, facilitate visitor orientation, and enhance local attractions.

“Tourism is a reality. It is a very direct way to generate jobs and income for the population. All this legacy that is being prepared here, with the signing of the contract to start the tourist signage work in Belém, is something necessary and fundamental for tourists to have positive experiences when they come to visit our state,” highlighted the Secretary of Tourism of Pará, Eduardo Costa.
The bilingual signage — in Portuguese and English — will be an essential element for welcoming national and international tourists expected for COP30, promoting a more inclusive, accessible, and informative experience for all. The basic project was approved by the Caixa Econômica Federal on April 7, 2025, and will be executed with the technical oversight of the State Secretariat of Tourism (Setur). The project has an investment of about R$ 4.5 million, transferred by the Ministry of Tourism (MTur) through the Caixa Econômica Federal, which is responsible for managing the resources.
During the event, the Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, emphasized the relevance of the investment. “Tourism in Pará has been experiencing strong growth. In 2024, Belém Airport received 4.1 million passengers, compared to 3.6 million in 2023. The good moment of the state in the sector reinforces the need for Pará's attractions to be properly prepared to offer good experiences to visitors,” he stated.
The ceremony was attended by mayors, parliamentarians, representatives of the tourism trade, community leaders, and local authorities, reinforcing the importance of partnership between federal entities to strengthen regional tourism.

In addition to the signage, Minister Celso Sabino announced other strategic initiatives for the sector in Pará. Among them, the allocation of R$ 73.1 million for tourist infrastructure works and an investment of R$ 17.3 million in support of cultural, religious, traditional, and agricultural events in more than 20 municipalities in Pará — actions aimed at increasing the capacity to receive visitors, boosting the local economy, and enhancing the cultural identity of the state.
Another highlight was the signing of MTur Ordinance No. 19, dated July 10, 2025, which changes the rules of the New Fungetur and establishes the requirement that all financing operations comply with the Brazilian Law of Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (Law No. 13.146/2015). The measure reinforces the commitment to a more accessible and inclusive tourism.
