Teen volunteers can register until Friday (11) to participate in COP 30
Young people from the Metropolitan Region of Belém have the opportunity to participate directly in one of the largest climate events on the planet
Registrations for teenagers aged 16 and over interested in participating in the COP 30 Volunteer Program will close this Friday (11). With 123 days to go until the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference in Belém, around 2,000 candidates are already in training to work at the event, which will take place from November 10 to 21. For minors, registration depends on formal authorization from parents or legal guardians, with joint signing of the Adherence Term.
The announcement was published in the State Official Gazette (DOE) in early July by the State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet), responsible for the selection process. The goal is to expand participation opportunities and engage the youth of the Metropolitan Region of Belém in the activities of one of the largest climate events in the world.
Experience - According to the head of Sectet, Victor Dias, the participation of teenagers in the COP 30 volunteer team is strategic. “The youth audience is an important segment of society, and opening space for them to participate in such a relevant event has a huge impact on their personal and professional lives. The experience gained will be forever etched in each one's memory. Moreover, these teenagers will have the opportunity to discover new skills and talents,” emphasizes the secretary.
Volunteers will receive joint certification from the Government of Pará, the Federal Government, and the United Nations (UN), exclusive uniforms, free meals and transportation, as well as the opportunity to experience a cultural exchange with participants from other countries. The desired profile includes good communication, proactivity, organization, problem-solving ability, and availability to work during the event hours.
Training - All registered participants will undergo a preparatory course, with a workload of 120 hours, divided into six modules. The training will cover topics such as climate change, tourism, intercultural communication, and work dynamics in large events, preparing volunteers for their roles during the conference.
Those interested in participating in the training can still apply. Registrations are made exclusively online, on the Sectet website - www.sectet.pa.gov.br, or on the official Program portal: www.voluntarioscop30.pa.gov.br.
