The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop), will deliver next Saturday (12) the second urban walkway providing access to Maçarico Beach in Salinópolis. The first public facility was delivered at the end of 2024 and became a new postcard for the municipality, boosting leisure, tourism, and generating jobs and income for the local population, which consists of over 48,000 people.

“The State will deliver another important project for the municipality of Salinópolis and the northeastern region of Pará. The first urban walkway was a success, promoting tourism, revitalizing the area with urbanization, facilities for sports practices, walks, and comfort for residents and visitors. The second walkway will be no different, as it follows the standard of a modern, safe, and comfortable structure,” said the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.

With a total of three public facilities, the walkways provide the local population and visitors with another option for leisure and contemplation of the Atlantic Ocean. The project includes covered buildings, urban interventions, and sidewalk enhancements, combined with environmental balance for the conservation of the ecosystem and other components of the area, such as mangroves, beaches, and dunes.

"Excellent, the accessibility here is very good. You can go down, get to know the beach better, the access is good for both us and for those who need to use a wheelchair. The walk is excellent, we get to know the area, and have the opportunity to explore other places," comments receptionist Landoaldo Miranda da Silva, who lives in the city.

New walkway features a bike lane, walking area, among other sectors

With a length of 380 meters, the second urban walkway providing access to Maçarico Beach will have a bike lane; areas for pedestrian walks, contemplation, and socializing; kiosks for food, a space for informal beach fashion and handicrafts sales; in addition to restrooms, boosting the economy and tourism in Salinópolis, one of the most sought-after leisure destinations on the Atlantic coast of Pará.

“I am spending my vacation with my family in Salinópolis and was able to visit the walkway. I was quite surprised, it is a beautiful space. The direct access created to the beach is also important, it makes this side of the city busier and safer for us to visit. The government deserves congratulations for the project,” said freelancer Gabriel Duarte.

Among the urban facilities are guardrails, lighting poles with LED lamps powered by solar energy, benches, pergolas, selective trash bins, and bike racks with capacity for 30 bicycles. The area is also receiving public showers, landscaping, access ramps, and tactile signage.

The construction of the second urban walkway in Salinópolis has already involved around 200 workers and is now entering the finishing phase. The area extends from the Maçarico Beach boardwalk, delivered by the Government of Pará in 2022, to João Pessoa Street, and was chosen due to its lower environmental impact.

Engineering assistant Flávio Cristo do Rosário, a resident of Salinópolis, is working on the second walkway. "I have been here since the beginning of the project. For the city, it is wonderful to have such a project, which also generates jobs and income. The delivery of the first was a success, and I know that this second one will be too. And I will definitely come with my family when the second one is delivered," he commented.

Maria Inaildes is also part of the team working on the second walkway at Maçarico Beach. “I am enjoying the work, and for me, as a person, it is important to see this project here. Once completed, it will be good for us to have a view of the sea, to stroll, to bring our children and other people to get to know Salinas. We feel happy to see that the city is evolving more and more,” highlighted Maria Inaildes, a resident of Salinópolis who works on the project as a grout applicator.
