Inova Sociobio will allocate up to R$ 2.4 million to strengthen sociobiodiversity in Pará
The initiative integrates the actions of the Bioeconomy Plan of Pará, a pioneer in Brazil

The Sustainable Amazon Foundation (FAS), under the Inova Sociobio project of the Government of Pará, launched this Thursday (10) the call that will allocate up to R$ 2.4 million to strengthen community initiatives based on sociobiodiversity in the territories of indigenous peoples, quilombolas, traditional communities, and family farmers (PIQCTAFs) in Pará.
The call aims to select and support sociobusiness initiatives focused on the production of sustainable goods and services, which combine innovation, traditional knowledge, income generation, and forest conservation. The selected projects must be executed within 12 months and will be included in the scope of the State Bioeconomy Plan (PlanBio). The action is financially supported by the Financial Cooperation of Germany, through the KfW Development Bank, with resources from the Forest Standing Program.
The submitted proposals must align with at least one of the four thematic axes of the notice, and may combine different areas of action. However, it is mandatory that all proposals include at least one line of action from Axis I – Training and Technical Assistance. The other thematic axes cover: adoption of technologies for climate resilience and environmental sustainability in production processes; improvement of productive capacity: infrastructure and equipment; and creation of Points of Innovation in Sociobioeconomy.

The call will support sustainable projects with values between R$ 50 thousand and R$ 200 thousand. The initiative seeks to strengthen community enterprises at different stages of development, stimulating solutions that connect sustainable production, regenerative technologies, and market opportunities.
Proposals may be submitted by civil society organizations, such as associations and cooperatives (singular, central, federations, or confederations) of PIQCTAFs, legally constituted for at least one year, with proven activity in the state of Pará. Networks and organizations representing these groups may also participate. In both cases, it is mandatory to have an active and regularized CNPJ.
Registration must be done exclusively through an electronic form available on the FAS website. Documents sent by email or any other channel will not be considered. Failure to present proof of active CNPJ at the time of submission will result in disqualification of the proposal. The deadline for submission is until 11:59 PM (Brasília time) on August 11, 2025, through the link, access here.
“This is a notice aimed at traditional populations — including extractivists, fishermen, quilombolas, and indigenous peoples — with the goal of strengthening sustainable productive chains of sociobioeconomy. It is a valuable opportunity that will allow support for various positive initiatives through the resources of this partnership,” said Virgilio Viana, General Superintendent of FAS.

The Deputy Secretary of Bioeconomy of the Secretary of Environment, Climate and Sustainability of Pará, Camille Bemerguy, highlights the strategic objective of the initiative. “This is yet another initiative within our PlanBio aimed at strengthening the way of life and ancestral knowledge of the peoples and traditional communities of our state. It is a strategy that reaches the grassroots, meaning it guarantees real and direct benefits to these communities, strengthening the objectives of PlanBio and state management,” she stated.
Inova Sociobio
The new edition of Inova Sociobio continues the call launched in 2022, which focused on strengthening small businesses led by youth and women in indigenous, traditional, and quilombola communities, through the creation of Points of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the forest.
In 2025, Inova Sociobio integrates two complementary strategies: the Forest Standing Program (PFP) and the Realiza Pará Project. The PFP is the result of financial cooperation between the governments of Germany and Brazil through the KfW Development Bank and implemented by the Sustainable Amazon Foundation (FAS). Its objective is to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation by valuing the standing Amazon rainforest through the promotion of bioeconomy, support in controlling deforestation, and strengthening environmental governance in the states of Amazonas and Pará. The Realiza Pará, on the other hand, works on the implementation of sustainable public policies based on nature (SbN) and directly contributes to the objectives and indicators of the Forest Standing Program.
The call is fully in synergy with the legal frameworks that guide bioeconomy in the state of Pará, such as the State Policy on Climate Change (PEMC) and the State Plan Amazon Now (PEAA). These instruments consolidate bioeconomy as a strategic public policy, valuing traditional knowledge, territories, and the protagonism of local communities in combating deforestation and building a new development model for the Amazon.
