Operation Summer 2025 strengthens security in resorts and beaches of Marabá
Integrated initiative mobilizes public security forces to ensure tranquility during the Amazon summer and school holidays
On the morning of this Friday (4), Operation Summer 2025 was launched at the Meeting of the Rivers, Cabelo Seco neighborhood, in Marabá, in the southeast of Pará. The initiative, coordinated by the Pará Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), in partnership with agencies of the State Public Security System, aims to ensure the safety of visitors to the resorts and beaches of the region during the school holiday period and the Amazon summer.
Integrated action for the safety of the population
Operation Summer is one of the largest integrated actions of state public security in partnership with municipal agencies.
According to the head of Segup, Ualame Machado, the actions were planned so that all regions of the State receive security measures. “Marabá and the surrounding area are among the busiest locations during this Amazon summer period, so security agents also reinforce actions to ensure that the entire population can enjoy themselves safely and peacefully. The actions will continue until the first weekend of August,” Ualame stated.
The regional government secretary for the South and Southeast of Pará, João Chamon Neto, highlighted the importance of the union of efforts: “We are here at the Meeting of the Rivers, a symbolic location of extreme importance to the history of Marabá, to officially start Operation Summer 2025. With the commitment of all security forces, our goal is to ensure that people can enjoy this period with tranquility, safety, and joy. Since 2019, we have observed significant advances in security indices, reflecting Governor Helder Barbalho's commitment to the well-being of the population.”
Structure and action in Marabá and region
The focus of the operation is on reinforcing policing in resorts and beaches, with specific actions for inspection, prevention, and rescue.
Colonel Gledson Melo, commander of Regional Policing II (CPR II), explained that the operation covers 12 municipalities in the region, with seven receiving specific reinforcements for events featuring national attractions, such as Marabá, Itupiranga, São Geraldo do Araguaia, and Palestina.
“During these events, the reinforcement will be intensified. In Marabá, for example, we will have about 60 police officers working on days of high movement, in addition to the regular policing that will be maintained. These reinforcements will also come from the capital, with 20 police officers sent every weekend from Belém to strengthen our operations,” he stated.
According to him, the planning has already shown positive results: “We started yesterday in Itupiranga, where there was a national attraction, and fortunately, we had no recorded incidents. This shows that the operation is on the right track.”
Monitoring, prevention, and rescue
The Fire Department also has a strategic role, with lifeguard teams distributed in areas of high movement, in addition to educational actions for bathers.
The commander of the 5th Military Fire Group (GBM), Lieutenant Colonel Felipe Galúcio, pointed out: “This year we made a detailed plan to offer safety and comfort to bathers. We will have an increase in personnel and equipment, especially because there are forecasts of events that will attract more people to the beaches. The presence of our military in the resort areas will be increased precisely to prevent incidents and ensure the tranquility of families.”
Additionally, the State Department of Transit (Detran) will intensify inspections on the region's highways, with actions aimed at road safety and combating the combination of alcohol and driving.
Tips for enjoying summer safely
Authorities emphasize the importance of public cooperation for the success of the operation. Among the recommendations are:
● Avoid using cerol and other cutting materials;
● Respect the signs and guidance of security agents;
● Do not leave children unattended on beaches and resorts;
● Avoid excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages, especially before entering the water;
● Report suspicious behavior and irregularities to the authorities.
With this joint effort and the engagement of the population, Operation Summer 2025 aims to ensure a safe, peaceful, and pleasant summer for all who enjoy the natural beauties of Marabá and the region.
