Second ‘Bicho é Cultura’ action promotes leisure and free services in Icoaraci
Cultura Rede de Comunicação initiative ensures rabies vaccination, guidance with a veterinarian, and registrations for the castration of dogs and cats

In support of animal causes, Cultura Rede de Comunicação held the second edition of the “Bicho é Cultura” action. This time, the initiative took place at Praça do Pontão, in the Icoaraci district of Belém, on Thursday (3), and ensured leisure and free services such as rabies vaccination and guidance with a veterinarian.

The action also provided pet owners with the service of registering dogs and cats for castration and follow-up at the Dr. Vahia Municipal Veterinary Hospital. The program included an adoption fair, Pet Bazaar, presentations with trainers, and musical attractions that energized the audience.

Bioanthropologist, professor, and animal protector Elizabete Pires emphasized the educational and social nature of the initiative. “The ‘Bicho é Cultura’ action is of the utmost relevance for our population since there is an immense need for care for our domestic and wild animals. In ‘Bicho é Cultura’ we interact with the population, educate about animal welfare, and also provide health, not only for the animals but also for humans, as this relationship is very close between humans and non-humans,” she emphasizes.

For Alberto Linhares, a resident of the Icoaraci district, the feeling was one of gratitude for being able to participate in the event and bring his pet to enjoy the services. “I brought our little dog, who is a Pinscher, her name is Safira. The service here was great; we needed this level of care here in the Icoaraci area. I hope there will be more, as we need it a lot, especially for our beloved animals that we have here in the Icoaraci area; it is gratifying to participate in this event,” he said.
