In 6 months, Education in Pará expands bilingual education, full-time schools, and professional appreciation
The year 2025 is marked by the delivery of new school units and growth in investments in school infrastructure
In 2025, public education in Pará advanced with concrete actions that reinforce the commitment of the Government of Pará to a more inclusive, modern, and quality school. For the State Department of Education (Seduc), the year has been marked by the delivery of new school units, expansion of full-time education, and investments in infrastructure.
The state education department also highlights the decentralization of resources, appreciation of education professionals, and the strengthening of innovative policies, such as bilingual education and environmental education. These initiatives positively and broadly impact students and professionals throughout the Pará territory, promoting a real transformation in the state public education network.
“In 2025, Pará took a significant step in education. There are already 161 full-time schools, an important achievement for our state, in addition to the delivery of the first bilingual school in the Icoaraci district, which offers education in Portuguese and Spanish, broadening horizons for our students. With an investment of over R$ 50 million, we are strengthening school management and ensuring that decisions are made collaboratively, with the active participation of councils and communities. Furthermore, we are conducting the Saeb Caravan, which has passed through more than 80% of the regions, bringing education to every corner of our state. The government continues with the mission of prioritizing education so that Pará keeps advancing and achieving better results in Saeb 2025,” said Júlio Meireles, Deputy Secretary of Basic Education at Seduc.
Expansion of daycare centers and schools - In the first semester, Seduc intensified the construction and delivery of educational units, focusing on the establishment of daycare centers in regions with the greatest need for early childhood education vacancies. During this period, four early childhood education units were delivered in the municipalities of Redenção, Cumaru do Norte, Almeirim, and Bannach, totaling eight daycare centers.
Another five units are already ready to be delivered to the population in the municipalities of Marabá, Igarapé-Açu, Magalhães Barata, Melgaço, and Curuçá. Regarding the reconstructed units, the Government delivered 14 state schools.
Full-Time and Bilingual School - Full-time education is one of the current administration's priorities. New schools have been included in the full-time model, increasing the number of students served with extended hours, enhanced meals, extracurricular activities, sports, and pedagogical support.
In this year of 2025, Seduc incorporated 49 new schools into the Full-Time Education Program (PEI), totaling 161 institutions adopting this pedagogical approach. The impact of this expansion is also reflected in enrollment numbers. In 2018, 6,000 students were enrolled in full-time schools; in 2025, this number jumped to 48,000 vacancies, an eightfold increase.
This advancement highlights the state administration's commitment to expanding access to quality public education, more equitable and focused on the future of young people in Pará. Another important milestone was the establishment of the first Bilingual State School in Pará (Portuguese-Spanish), a historic moment for the Icoaraci community, a district of Belém. The Bilingual Full-Time State School Mestra Idalina Rodrigues Pereira marks the beginning of a new pedagogical model in the state network, aimed at a more complete and transformative education.
With the capacity to serve up to 700 students from preschool to high school, the school offers a full-time schedule and an innovative pedagogical proposal that values collaborative work and project development. The delivery of the school represents an important advance for public education in Pará, uniting quality teaching, linguistic inclusion, and citizenship training.
Decentralization of resources - In June, the Government of Pará, through Seduc, allocated about R$ 50 million to schools in the state public network with the Money in the Pará School Program (Prodep). This transfer, corresponding to the first installment of 2025, was directly transferred to the accounts of 693 schools eligible to receive the resources. The goal is to support improvements in infrastructure, strengthen teaching and learning, promote a more harmonious school environment, and complement students' meals.
With the autonomy guaranteed by Prodep, each school can decide how to apply the resources according to its most urgent needs. The possibilities range from structural repairs and the purchase of pedagogical and technological equipment to the air conditioning of classrooms and the implementation of sustainable practices, all to ensure a more welcoming and efficient space for learning.
Since 2023, Prodep has been transforming the reality of state schools. R$ 187 million have already been transferred directly to school units. For the director of the Full-Time State School Renato Pinheiro Conduru in Belém, Valdenor Cunha, Prodep is essential for improving the school environment and student learning.
“The program allows us to act more broadly, especially in full-time, with necessary renovations and repairs. With it, we have better conditions to offer quality education. The arrival of Prodep transformed the school and the community, as the resources are well applied,” he stated.
Appreciation that makes a difference - For the Government of Pará, offering quality public education starts with recognizing those who make a difference every day: education professionals. Therefore, the program School that Transforms was created, the largest bonus initiative in the state's history aimed at education sector employees.
In 2023, about 40,000 professionals were benefited for contributing directly to the advancement of education in Pará, reflected in the Ideb results. Pará made a historic leap, moving from 26th to 6th place in the national ranking, an advancement resulting from the collective effort of the entire network.
Now, the commitment continues. For 2025, the State Government has already announced the allocation of R$ 313 million to the program, reaffirming the appreciation of those who transform education in practice every day.
New technologies - In 2025, the unprecedented program "Conecta Educação" was launched, which allows any classroom or pedagogical space to be transformed into a true digital laboratory. More than 36,000 Chromebooks were distributed with charging station carts, which serve as charging and storage points for the equipment. In addition, Seduc promoted basic and advanced training for educators, ensuring the effective use of resources focused on strengthening the teaching and learning process.
All 975 schools in the state network of Pará now have internet access, making the state one of the few in the country to achieve 100% connectivity in educational units. In 2024, the administration began delivering the "Kits Bora Estudar," which brought to schools internet antennas via Starlink, laptops, and televisions, expanding teaching possibilities with the support of technology.
Integrated Center for Sustainability and Basic Education - The Integrated Center for Sustainability and Basic Education (Ciseb) is a modern, sustainable, and innovative space where students and educators have the opportunity to develop skills aligned with the demands of the present and future. Ciseb integrates the Public Policy of Education for the Environment, Sustainability, and Climate of Seduc, offering environments prepared for the continuous training of teachers and meaningful learning experiences for students from state and municipal networks.
With six immersion rooms, the center features learning paths in areas such as prototyping and digital manufacturing, maker culture, digital culture, virtual and augmented reality, robotics, creative computing, and artificial intelligence.
In 2025, Ciseb expanded its operations with new units. The most recent was delivered in April at the Bilingual Full-Time State School Mestra Idalina Rodrigues Pereira in the Icoaraci district. Another unit was established at the Full-Time State School Augusto Meira in the São Brás neighborhood, completely rebuilt this year. The first unit of the center was created at the Full-Time State School Marechal Cordeiro de Farias in Belém.
The results obtained so far demonstrate a consistent process of strengthening public education in Pará. Overcoming challenges is accompanied by strategic planning, pedagogical innovation, and appreciation of the professionals in the network.
