Governor Helder Barbalho inaugurated this Saturday (7), a new covered sports court at the 22nd Battalion of the Military Police, located in Conceição do Araguaia, in the southeastern region of Pará.

The new structure will not only promote the health and well-being of police officers but will also serve as a space for interaction with the local community.

The delivery was made by Governor Helder Barbalho, who took the opportunity to highlight the relevance of the space.

“The 22nd Battalion gains this covered court so that our military can practice sports and bring the community closer. Here, children will participate in the PMZITO project, learning essential values that form ethical and respectful citizens,” he stated.

The new court will be used for physical activities and training, as well as social actions aimed at children and adolescents. The General Commander of the Military Police, Dilson Júnior, expressed satisfaction with the inauguration. “Receiving this new court, with resources from the National Public Security Fund, is a great joy. It will not only provide better physical conditions for our police officers but will also allow the expansion of the PMZITO project, bringing sports practices to children in the after-school period,” he stated.

With the new installation, the battalion, which has 160 police officers and operates in Conceição do Araguaia, Floresta do Araguaia, Santa Maria das Barreiras, and surrounding areas, will have an adequate space for various activities such as self-defense, drill, and team sports. The court promises to improve the quality of life of police officers, reflecting on productivity and the reduction of crime rates in the region.

The police unit is a historical reference, dating back to the 1990s when it operated as a Platoon. Its trajectory includes the creation of the 1st School for the Training of Ranks (ESFORP), linked to the Center for Training and Improvement of Ranks (CFAP), consolidating its importance in the training and qualification of new police officers.

In addition to operational activities, the 22nd BPM conducts foot, motorized, and river policing, using an equipped boat. The battalion's operations extend to various villages, collaborating with agencies such as SEGUP and the Public Ministry, through cooperation agreements aimed at security.

The new court strengthens actions that unite the State and the population, promoting security and citizenship. Governor Helder Barbalho reinforced this commitment at the end of the inauguration: “We are investing in infrastructure that not only benefits our police officers but also directly brings the community into this dialogue. Building a better future involves mutual appreciation and respect.”
