The Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR) held another edition of the Chaplaincy Project this week, an initiative aimed at providing spiritual support to users, companions, and collaborators of the Rehabilitation Complex of the Government of Pará. Developed since 2019 by the Humanization Working Group (GTH), in partnership with the Arts and Culture sector, the project promotes moments of faith, reflection, and welcoming listening, reinforcing comprehensive care in the therapeutic environment.

The activities of the second edition of 2025 took place this Tuesday (27) at the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Cetea), and on Monday (26) at CIIR, both located in Belém. The actions are inter-religious in nature and comply with the guidelines of the National Humanization Policy (PNH), valuing the welcoming environment and person-centered care.

Reflection and spirituality in the therapeutic daily life

At Cetea, the moment of spirituality was led by senior pastor Nilson Caetano from the Adventist Community Encontro Vida, linked to the Adventist Hospital of Belém. He addressed the theme “What would the world be like if Jesus had not existed?”.

“The world would be colder and harsher. But because He came, there are places like Cetea, where care is more technical, human, and sacred. What this team does is more than work; it is a ministry. I thank everyone and ask that God bless you,” emphasized the pastor.

The pedagogical coordinator of Cetea, Luciana Maués, highlighted the importance of the action for the routine of the families and patients served.

“Here we deal with people whose stories involve pain, overcoming, and often frustration. Faith, regardless of belief, can be a push for new beginnings. Caring for the soul is essential,” she stated.

Emotional support and valuing listening

At CIIR, the moment of spirituality was led by Wilkinson Marchezzini Lima, secretary of the Department of Religious Assistance for Evangelization of the Christian Congregation in Brazil. He addressed the theme “Inclusion that transforms: living the love of Christ in daily life.”

For Larissa Justino, mother of little Walleph Justino, 4 years old, who participates weekly in therapies at CIIR coming from Santa Maria do Pará, the activity was a relief.

“As an atypical mother, we face daily stress. Participating in this moment with God calms the mind and comforts spiritually. I am grateful for this initiative. It was a beautiful moment,” she reported.

The Chaplaincy integrates the permanent actions of GTH to promote a more humanized and respectful hospital environment towards different expressions of faith. The initiative is supported by Federal Law No. 9.982/2000, which guarantees the right to religious assistance in public health institutions, and brings together volunteers from various beliefs and denominations.
