The Jorge Lopes Raposo State School, in Icoaraci, a district of Belém, is investing in the development of its students through the 'Bora Ler: Conhecendo os Pensadores' Project. This initiative awakens, in 3rd-year high school students, the pleasure of reading and reflection on essential subjects for their intellectual and social formation, contributing even to the realization of the National High School Exam (Enem).

The activity consists of presenting a project in the classroom, where each student must choose a thinker, philosopher, or educator to study. Then, research is conducted on the biography of the chosen author. Based on this research, students must prepare a presentation using resources such as slides, podcasts, or videos. Finally, they must apply a quote from the selected thinker in an essay in the format of the National High School Exam (Enem), integrating the author's ideas into the proposed theme.

"My thinker was Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and what I learned during this project is that knowing philosophers and thinkers, like Rousseau, was very important for me, as I can now see that this knowledge is fundamental not only for the Enem essay but also for our daily lives. Throughout life, we will apply the teachings of these thinkers in various ways," says Ianderson Daniel, a student.

Under the guidance of teacher Helioneth Lisboa, the project provides an immersion into the universe of great thinkers, philosophers, and educators, with a focus on those frequently mentioned in the Enem.

"The Bora Ler Project, developed by the Reading Room in partnership with teachers of Human and Social Sciences, involves five classes of 3rd-year high school students. Launched in April, with guidance to students, the project foresees presentations during the month of May. The proposal is for students to research the biography, works, and quotes of thinkers mentioned in top-scoring Enem essays, analyzing their use as sociocultural repertoire. The culmination will be on June 30," highlights Helioneth Lisboa, a specialist in Portuguese Language, responsible for the development of the 'Bora Ler' project in the reading room.

During the activities, students will learn about the life and work of thinkers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Kant, Marx, Foucault, Arendt, Beauvoir, Weber, Locke, as well as sociologists like Elias, Bourdieu, Giddens, Habermas, and Bauman. The project also values Brazilian contributions, such as that of Lélia Gonzalez, strengthening students' repertoire and promoting reflections on social issues in Brazil.

"The project is very important to me, as it rescues classics of literature that often fall into oblivion, especially with the presence of technology. It awakens in students the desire to read, encouraging them to step away a bit from the digital age. The Bora Ler is essential for providing us with contact with books and philosophers, as well as expanding our social repertoire," said Miqueias Sampaio, a student.

The Jorge Lopes Raposo State School believes that forming critical and reflective students contributes to the construction of more prepared and aware citizens of the challenges in Brazil and the world. The 'Bora Ler' Project is an opportunity for preparation for the Enem and for encouraging protagonism and social transformation, in addition to having the support of the Regional Education Directorate (DRE) Belém 10 and the entire school team of the unit.
