In celebration of Nursing Month, the Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR) and the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Cetea) pay a well-deserved tribute to the team of nurses and technicians for their technical competence and commitment to humanized care in both units.

In just the first four months of 2025, the nursing team conducted 4,285 consultations, reaffirming their leading role in assisting people with disabilities in Pará. At CIIR, Nursing not only integrates but leads patient-centered care, promoting active listening, welcoming, and user autonomy.

For CIIR, nursing is a pillar in the rehabilitation journey of users. Professionals work in strategic sectors such as the Outpatient Clinic, the Support and Therapeutic Diagnosis Service (SADT), the Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER IV), the Autism Spectrum Disorder Care Center (Natea), the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder, the Central Material and Sterilization (CME), and the Dental Specialties Center (CEO II).

Daily, technicians and nurses conduct nursing consultations, screenings, dressings, monitoring during sedation procedures, specialized exams, and actively participate in the Rapid Response Team (TRR).

In 2024, there were more than 13,718 consultations performed by the nursing team, numbers that reflect the commitment to quality, efficiency, and humanization of the care provided.

For the coordinator of the Outpatient Clinic, Silinne Baia, the role of nursing transcends technique. “Our team conducts detailed assessments, continuously and warmly follows users, and positively impacts their quality of life. We work side by side with other rehabilitation specialties, but it is nursing that is on the front line, promoting comprehensive care with empathy and responsibility,” she states.

The importance of this care is felt by those who experience rehabilitation in practice. Retiree Miguel Xavier Carneiro, 66, is one of the users and makes a point of valuing the team's work. “I come three times a week to CIIR to treat a pressure sore. I have been in a serious situation, with severe necrosis. But thanks to the dedication of the nurses, I am now recovered and continue my treatment,” he reports.

“They are my reference for care. I always make a point of praising them at the SAU. It is an essential service. What would we do without this team?” he adds. Another testimony that reflects the relevance of nursing at CIIR comes from Haliandra Ferreira, mother of 3-year-old Hyawan. “Nursing is the main step in care. The careful screening and attentive gaze of the team are fundamental for the doctor to have a basis for investigating more accurately. These professionals are the foundation of health. They need to be more recognized,” said Haliandra.

In this month of celebrating Nursing, the management of CIIR/Cetea reaffirms its commitment to strengthening and valuing these professionals, who are the backbone of humanized and inclusive care. “The dedication of our nursing team daily strengthens CIIR's mission to promote comprehensive rehabilitation with respect, listening, and inclusion for people with physical, visual, auditory, and intellectual disabilities throughout the state,” emphasizes the assistant director Maria do Carmo Freitas.

Structure – CIIR is a reference in Pará for medium and high complexity assistance to people with visual, physical, auditory, and intellectual disabilities. Users can access the Center's services through referrals from health units, welcomed by the Regulation Center of each municipality, which in turn forwards to State Regulation. The request is analyzed according to the user's profile by the State Regulation System (SRE).
