Emater services open opportunities for farmers in Mosqueiro
Extensionists ensure the preparation of family farming registrations (cafs) for families raising free-range chickens, cultivating tilapia in tanks, and horticulture, among other actions

The direct service from the local office of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Pará (Emater), in Belém, to farmers in the Chico Mendes community, on the BL-19 highway, in the Mosqueiro District, has provided access to public policies such as rural credit and facilitated marketing opportunities. This action has promoted the modernization of production systems in the coastal region, positively impacting the food supply for the tourism demands of the capital.
This year, the extension team of the Government of Pará has already issued nine national family farming registrations (cafs) for families working with free-range chicken farming, focusing on eggs; tilapia cultivation in tanks, horticulture (such as pumpkin and jambu), and planting of fruit trees, such as cupuaçu and pupunha.
The work of Emater receives support from the Association of Residents and Rural Agro-extractive Producers of the Chico Mendes Community (AmpraCM). Among the examples, two rural environmental registrations (cars) were prepared for properties, each half a hectare in size, and three rural credit projects from the Acredita line, with the Bank of the Amazon (Basa), with an individual value of up to R$ 10,000.
“It is always a welcome partnership because the presence of Emater strengthens social movements, mobilizes regarding the rights of family farming in the context of public power, and realizes positive transformations, with technological expansion and advancement, in addition to the diversification of activities,” considers the responsible professional for monitoring, the agronomist engineer from Emater, Soraya Araújo, a specialist in public policies and a master's degree in Family Farming and Agroecology.
