The government of the State of Pará, in collaboration with the Municipal Chamber of Belém, delivered the reconstruction of the legislative power headquarters in the Marco neighborhood of Belém on the morning of this Monday (28). The work marks an important step in modernizing public infrastructure.

Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the importance of the new structure: "It is essential that the Municipal Chamber, as a representative of society, can actively participate in discussions about the city's development agenda. The appropriate environment is necessary not only for legislating but also for welcoming society that seeks to dialogue and propose improvements.”

The ceremony was attended by local authorities, including the president of the Municipal Chamber, councilor John Wayne. He emphasized that the work is the result of an agreement between the State Government and the Municipal Chamber, highlighting that "the governor has brought a house that serves the population with more dignity and respect. This space will allow for better debate around the decisions that shape our city," Wayne stated, referring to the central role that the legislature plays in the community's life.

The work had a total investment of R$ 28,472,051.88, sourced from the State Treasury, and includes important structural changes on the three floors of the building. Among the improvements, the new infrastructure offers a Plenary Hall "Laércio Wilson Barbalho" with accessibility, parliamentary offices, five bathrooms, and two galleries.

There are also rooms designated for IT, human resources, and press. Additionally, two auditoriums and a parking lot with 85 spaces were built. The goal is to provide a safer and more comfortable environment for both employees and society.

“The joint effort between the state government and the Municipal Chamber will provide better conditions for the exercise of legislative functions. This is an investment in democracy and in the participation of the population in issues that affect their daily lives,” added the governor of Pará.

The new facilities ensure a more comfortable and safe environment for the daily work of parliamentarians. "With this structure, certainly the productivity of the Municipal Chamber will be increasingly greater," stated Helder Barbalho, reinforcing the importance of investments in infrastructure for the evolution of public service.

The councilors also expressed optimism about the reform. They believe that modernization will not only facilitate legislative work but also bring the Chamber closer to society. "We are here to listen and discuss the demands of the population. Adequate infrastructure ensures that this happens efficiently," concluded John Wayne.
