With the support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), athletes from Pará shine in the North-Northeast Master Basketball, in the 70+ men's category, winning the silver medal, and in the 35+ women's category with the bronze medal. The championship was held by the Brazilian Master Basketball Federation (FBBM), from April 17 to 21, in Natal–RN.

The secretary of Seel, Cássio Andrade, highlighted the participation of the athletes from Pará in the competition. “A brilliant participation from our representatives, we are happy for all the athletes who went to this important national competition and performed well. Victory and defeat are part of the process, but we are proud of the silver and bronze medals. These athletes raised the flag of Pará and the Government of Pará and Seel to the podium of one of the biggest competitions in the sport,” said the secretary.

The men's 70+ team reached the vice-championship, participating for the sixteenth time. The final was against the team from Pernambuco (PE). Athlete Paulo Fernando highlighted the achievement. “We managed to represent Pará's master basketball very well, with the silver medal and, of course, with the support of Seel. We are grateful to the Government of Pará and Seel for this support, and we hope to count on Seel's support in future competitions,” said the athlete.

In the 35+ women's master category, in addition to stepping on the podium with third place, we had two athletes highlighted in the top 5 scorers of the competition, team captain Andressa Fortunato, with 51 points, being the second highest scorer, and Silveira Arruda, with 38 points, being the fourth scorer of the event.

Athlete Silveira Arruda emphasized the achievement and the support from the Government through Seel. “It’s always good to be on the podium! We finished in third place. This support from Seel is very important. Without the support, we wouldn’t be able to travel due to high costs, in addition to travel, accommodation, food, and registration fees. This year we managed to bring two teams again; it’s the third consecutive year that we’ve been able to bring two categories, and it’s always very good to represent our state. Wearing this flag is always good, and it’s always great to count on Seel’s support to make these trips. And we always try to be at the top,” said the athlete.

Matches and results of the 35+ women from Pará:

RN 41 x 28 PA

2nd game

PA 33 x 23 CE

3rd game

Note: in the regulations, it’s all against all, whoever has the most points wins. There was a three-way tie between PA, RN, and AL, all with one loss and three wins. In the basket difference among the games of the three teams, the athletes from Pará secured third place in the tiebreaker criteria, since with five teams there is no final. The result of the men's master was not reported.
