The Government of Pará authorized, on the night of last Wednesday (26), the construction of the new Sports and Leisure Complex in Benevides, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The signing of the service order took place during the delivery of the city's Commercial Center, in a ceremony attended by Governor Helder Barbalho, Vice Governor Hana Ghassan, State Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Cássio Andrade, and Mayor Luziane Solon.

The initiative is part of the state program "Sports and Leisure Squares throughout Pará," which aims to implement 40 sports complexes in municipalities in Pará. In this first phase, 20 cities will be benefited.

Benevides enters the route of sports and citizenship

With the signing, Benevides becomes part of the network of structuring sports facilities already initiated in 2025 in municipalities such as Rio Maria, Ourém, Santa Luzia do Pará, Vitória do Xingu, Garrafão do Norte, Ulianópolis, Paragominas, and Irituia.

“Today we also celebrate the signing of an important service order for a Sports Complex that the city gains,” highlighted Governor Helder Barbalho during the event.

The goal of the program is to expand the population's access to sports and leisure, as well as to strengthen community coexistence, especially among children, adolescents, and young people.

Complete structure for all ages

The Sports and Leisure Complex in Benevides will be built with modern and inclusive infrastructure, aimed at multiple sports modalities and practices. The space will include:

Soccer field with synthetic grass

  • Covered multipurpose court
  • Sand court
  • Skate park
  • Outdoor gym
  • Walking track
  • Community kiosks
  • More quality of life and social inclusion

According to the Secretary of Seel, Cássio Andrade, the construction of the facility reinforces the State Government's commitment to strengthening public policies for sports, leisure, and citizenship.

“With this service order, we fulfill another commitment to bring sports, leisure, and citizenship to all corners of Pará. The complex in Benevides will be a space for coexistence and opportunity for young people and adults to develop through sports practice,” stated the head of Seel.

The total investment in the project will be R$ 1,512,049.10, with resources from the Government of the State of Pará, through Seel. The forecast is that the construction of the Complex will be completed within 12 months after the start of the works.
