The Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Pará (Emater) presented state government projects in the areas of incentives, structuring, and promoting alternative routes for tourists to experience sustainable practices in the Amazon region of Pará. The initiatives have significant results in circular and solidarity bioeconomy and were demonstrated on Wednesday (19), as part of the COP 30 (30th United Nations Conference on Climate Emergencies) program in Belém.

In practice, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the fauna, flora, and traditions, without prejudice and without aggressive presence towards the environment: the program suggests, for example, canoe trips along the rivers, accommodation in farms, consumption of typical foods and drinks, and acquisition of exclusive handicrafts.

The panel “Initiatives of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater) for the Development of Community-Based Tourism (CBT)” took place at the Agritalks Arena, in Agrizone, at the headquarters of the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), in the Marco neighborhood, with the participation of the State Tourism Secretariat of Pará (Setur).

According to the specialists in the debate, Community-Based Tourism (CBT) strengthens family farming, valuing their stories and generating income, as well as reaffirming the protagonism of communities in narrating their own experiences.

“It is of utmost importance for Emater to work with rural tourism focused on community bases, combining environmental education. It is a strategy for guiding sustainable practices,” summarized the moderator Ivanete Lopes, a pedagogue from Emater and a master's degree holder in Natural Resource Management and Local Development in the Amazon.

“When tourism is born from the territory and is led by the people who live there, tourism transforms into a tool for autonomy, sustainability, and collective pride,” she adds.

One of the highlighted destinations by Emater is the riverside community Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, on the banks of the Aurá River in Belém, where Emater began its services this year.
