State revenue inspectors from the State Department of Finance (Sefa), stationed at the Coordination of Control of Goods in Transit in Gurupi, in Cachoeira do Piriá, a municipality on the border between Pará and Maranhão, northeastern Pará, seized on Thursday (13) two loads of 4,416 pairs of sandals, valued at R$ 120,624.00, which were being transported without the mandatory tax documentation.

Load of sandals seized without tax documentation

“The vehicle had already been monitored for recurrence in tax occurrences. The team identified 3,120 pairs of women's sandals, of own manufacture, without accompanying tax documentation. The batch was valued at R$ 31,200.00. A Term of Seizure and Deposit (TAD) was issued, amounting to R$ 10,670.00, charging the tax and the fine,” said the coordinator of the tax unit, Gustavo Bozola.

In the same action, 1,296 pairs of sandals, identified with a well-known brand in the market, were also seized, valued at R$ 89,424.00. After a technical analysis conducted by the brand owner, the counterfeiting of the products was confirmed. Consequently, a TAD was issued, amounting to R$ 30,583.01, with the goods remaining seized and subject to forfeiture.

The total value of the seized goods is R$ 120,624.00, and the total of the TADs issued in the operation is R$ 41,253.01.

Black pepper - A load of two tons of black pepper was seized by the inspection at the Gurupi Tax Post. "The product, valued at around R$ 60,000, was accompanied by tax documentation with a value much lower than that practiced in the market,” informed the state revenue inspector.

“The invoice indicated a price of R$ 0.50 per kg, totaling R$ 1,000, while the average market value of the product is approximately R$ 30.00 per kg. Furthermore, the invoice was issued by an individual without state registration, a situation incompatible with the quantity transported, which highlights the commercial nature of the operation,” emphasized coordinator Gustavo Bozola.

Given the discrepancy between the declared value and the market value, and the absence of state registration of the sender, a Term of Seizure and Deposit (TAD) was issued, with tax and fine totaling R$ 12,960.00.
