The State University of Pará (Uepa) will hold an integrated program from November 17 to 21, 2025, in commemoration of Black Consciousness Month, coordinating simultaneous events at the campuses of Salvaterra (XIX), Moju (XIV), Tucuruí (XIII), and Altamira (IX). The actions reinforce the institutional commitment to valuing Afro-Brazilian culture, defending human rights, promoting racial equality, and strengthening anti-racist education throughout the State. Check it out:

Altamira: Exhibition highlights black presence in Physical Education.

On November 18, at 7 PM, the Altamira Campus will hold the 1st Exhibition "Between the Athlete and the Intellectual: black presence in Physical Education," coordinated by Professor Laine Rocha Moreira, with participation from Physical Education students.

The activity, which will take place in the campus sports hall, aims to highlight the trajectories, achievements, and protagonisms of black personalities in the sports and academic fields, promoting debates on representativity and history.

Moju: Africa in Us inspires three days of culture and training.

From November 17 to 19, the XIV Campus of Moju will promote the program "Africa in Us" at the university's Central Auditorium, with activities in the morning (8 AM to 12 PM) and afternoon (2 PM to 7 PM). Located on Avenida das Palmeiras, the event was conceived by professors, researchers, and students and aims to amplify voices, value diversity, and promote Afro-Brazilian culture within the academic community and Moju society.

The program will include lectures, debates, workshops, thematic exhibitions, film sessions, and cultural presentations, creating spaces for exchange and collective construction on identity, ancestry, and confronting racism. The coordination is by Professors Daniele Silva, Élen Lisboa, Daniel Corrêa, and Márcio Silva, who advocate for a curricular and community approach more connected to ethnic-racial issues.

Salvaterra: Reflection and recognition of Marajoara identity.

On November 19, from 8 AM to 12 PM, the XIX Campus of Salvaterra will hold a program dedicated to critical reflection on resistance and Afro-Brazilian culture in Marajó. Organized by History students, the event will take place in the auditorium of Campus XIX, located at PA-154, Km 28, and will feature lectures, workshops, and debates focused on Marajoara identity and the legacy of the African diaspora in the region.

Professor Patrícia Cavalcante, coordinator of the initiative, emphasizes that: “holding an event in commemoration of Black Consciousness Day at Uepa's campus in Salvaterra represents a fundamental moment of reflection, appreciation, and recognition of the history and identity of the Marajoara people. The municipality, marked by the presence of numerous quilombola communities, holds the legacies of the African diaspora, which built solid foundations of resistance, knowledge, and traditions that remain alive.”

She also reinforces the university's role in promoting anti-racist education committed to historical memory and the contributions of Afro-descendant peoples in Marajó and throughout the country.

Tucuruí: Black Roots Festival highlights culture, memory, and resistance.

On November 21, the XIII Campus of Tucuruí will host the "Black Roots Festival" from 2 PM to 8:30 PM, at its headquarters located on BR-422, in Vila Permanente. The event proposes a formative journey on education, body, culture, and resistance, with participation from researchers, students, and guests.

The program consists of:

Workshop (2 PM) – Art, Dance, and Capulana: possibilities for an anti-racist education in schools, taught by master's student Jeannfer Nathali Leite Cristo.

Film Debate (4 PM) – Screening of the film Menino 23, moderated by Oberdan da Silva Medeiros with participation from Professor Benedita Borges and Professor Bruno Jay das Mercês de Lima.
