The Government of Pará, through the Housing Company of Pará (Cohab), participated this Thursday (13) in the panel Housing Policy in the State of Pará – Building Resilient Cities, held at the booth of the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy (Crea-PA), in the Green Zone of COP30, in Belém.

The focus of the discussions was the work to combat the housing deficit in the State of Pará through the housing programs developed by Cohab.

Among the programs presented was Sua Casa, highlighting the investment in sustainable constructions, exemplified by the Sua Casa COP30 project, which is building the first ecological houses in the islands of Belém, as well as the land regularization program.

Isabela Monteiro

According to Isabela Monteiro, Housing Policy Manager at Cohab, the opportunity allowed for the presentation of experiences with housing programs in Pará, as well as the families benefited by the Technical Assistance in Social Interest Housing (Athis), guaranteed by Federal Law No. 11.888/2008, which ensures free support from architects, engineers, and social workers during the construction and improvement of homes, allowing these families to have a well-lit, ventilated house suitable for the Amazon climate. "We also showcased the new technologies that Cohab has been developing in riverside areas, such as Sua Casa COP30,” said the manager.

The Sua Casa COP30 project includes the construction of housing units built with over 150,000 ecological bricks made from treated açaí seeds, marking a milestone in the adoption of sustainable solutions in the state's housing policy.

The Sua Casa Program has already benefited more than 150,000 families in Pará since its implementation in 2019.

Thays Henriques

Regularization - Thays Milena Henriques, Strategic Manager of Regularization at Cohab, spoke about the importance of urban land regularization that the Company has been developing for building resilient cities, "which consists of the importance of urban planning, the organization of this city, and all the benefits that regularization provides for populations, removing them from numerous vulnerabilities when there is this land inadequacy,” highlighted Thays.

Land regularization is a process that seeks to guarantee the right to housing, promote the social function of urban property, and the sustainable development of the municipality. Cohab develops the Regularization Project (Reurb-S), which is the land regularization of social interest, aimed at areas predominantly occupied by low-income populations. The title is delivered at no cost to the beneficiary.

The Regularization Project is aimed at families in situations of social vulnerability with a gross family income of up to 5 minimum wages, and who do not own another property. The action occurs through the execution of a set of legal, urban, environmental, and social measures.

The goal is the regularization of urban nuclei that have been occupied disorderly and, thus, guarantee the titling of their occupants, as a way to integrate these families into the territorial ordering of Pará.

During the titling process, the Government of Pará also carries out necessary works, which stimulates urban development and reduces land conflicts. From 2019 to today, about 10,000 families have benefited from land regularization.
