Pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers report daily improvements in traffic with the installation of the new viaduct on Mário Covas

Recently delivered to the public, the Pastor Gilberto Marques viaduct, at the intersection of Avenida Mário Covas and Avenida Independência, in the Coqueiro neighborhood, at the boundary between Belém and Ananindeua, has provided a significant improvement in traffic, which has gained more mobility and safety for people.

Previously, drivers faced traffic jams; now, they say they feel relief with the certainty of reduced travel time on the roads. "Traffic has improved a lot here, it has eased a lot, now we are saving time, the struggle is over," said economist Felipe Eurico, a resident of Avenida Hélio Gueiros, in the 40 Horas neighborhood.

For businessman Benedito Junior, born and raised in the area, life has improved since the viaduct was delivered. "The flow is great, especially the issue of making U-turns, because before we were unable to make U-turns, which makes it easier to get to our home."

End of daily traffic jams on the roads

Benedito Junior says he is satisfied with the new viaduct due to its positive impact on daily life. "Before, it was chaos, both for those coming from Ananindeua and from other places; no one had peace. Now we can see that traffic flows. The traffic jams that used to be here in the region of the traffic light at Independência with Mário Covas no longer exist," he celebrates.

With a length of 350 meters, a width of 14 meters, and a height of 5.5 meters, the viaduct is part of a set of urban mobility works carried out by the State Government in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The state investment provides a better quality of life for the population, especially for those who rely on public transport daily.
