Delivered by Governor Helder Barbalho in April of this year, the Polyclinic Carajás Miguel Chamon, in Marabá, has been changing the reality of access to health in the region. In seven months of operation, the unit surpassed, this week, the mark of 120,000 services, including specialized consultations and exams. More than just numbers, the result represents stories of care and transformation in the lives of thousands of people.

Wagner Silva, 42 years old, a resident of Bom Jesus do Tocantins, in the Carajás region, was referred to the unit to undergo an MRI after suffering a car accident that resulted in a leg fracture. "I was well attended, from reception to the exam. Everything happened quickly, with respect and attention. Having such a service close to home makes a difference because we feel that we are truly cared for," said the user.

Andressa Dias, also a resident of Bom Jesus do Tocantins, sought care from an otorhinolaryngologist for her son, Beny Dias, 7 years old, who was experiencing respiratory difficulties. "We were referred here to the Polyclinic, everything went well, my son had restless nights and was breathing with effort through his nose. We found guidance and the necessary referral to better care for his health," she reported.

According to a survey, from April to October, more than 80,000 laboratory and imaging exams have already been performed at the Pará government unit, including high-complexity technologies such as MRI, computed tomography, ultrasound, among others. The polyclinic also offers medical and multiprofessional consultations, which already total more than 40,000 services. The most sought-after areas are orthopedics, cardiology, and gynecology.

Services

The Polyclinic Carajás brings together a wide range of medical specialties, ensuring access to consultations in areas such as ophthalmology, dermatology, anesthesiology, hepatology, infectious diseases, mastology, pulmonology, psychiatry, rheumatology, urology, and clinical neurology. For adults and children, the unit provides care in allergology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, nephrology, and otorhinolaryngology, among others.

For the director of the Polyclinic, Joabe Lopes, the results show the positive impact of the unit. "The Polyclinic has been fulfilling its mission of bringing medium and high-complexity services closer to the population, offering medical consultations and exams in the same space, which speeds up diagnosis and strengthens the public health network," he highlighted.

The manager emphasizes that the unit continues to expand the offer of specialties and services according to regional demand. "These more than 78,000 services in just six months show how essential the Polyclinic has become for the region. Quality care, which was once distant, is now within reach of the people, and this transforms realities," he concluded.

In addition to consultations, the unit managed by the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), has a Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder Care (Natea), aimed at the multiprofessional follow-up of children with autism and their families, with thousands of services.

The Polyclinic also offers laboratory and imaging exams. Among them are colonoscopy, endoscopy, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, electroencephalogram, bone densitometry, stress test, MRI, ultrasound, computed tomography, X-rays, and others.

State regulation for services

The services at the Polyclinic are regulated by the State Regulation Center, under the responsibility of Sespa. To access the services, the citizen must seek a Basic Health Unit in their municipality. After evaluation, the health professional will provide the necessary referral. Then, the patient must present the referral document and their personal data to the Municipal Health Department, which will register and schedule in the State Regulation System.
