Civil Police ensures tranquility for the public at Global Citizen, in Mangueirão
Teams from various units of the PC operated inside and outside the Mangueirão Stadium, preventing crimes. One person was arrested in the act for homophobia.
The Civil Police of Pará acted in an integrated manner with other forces of the Public Security System on Saturday night (1st), reinforcing policing during the Global Citizen Festival: Amazon, held at the Olympic Stadium of Pará Journalist Edgar Proença, the Mangueirão. Teams from the Delegacy of Protection to the Fan and Major Events (DPTGE), linked to the Directorate of Specialized Police (DPE), and from the Specialized Delegacy for Women's Assistance (Deam) at the Stadium, linked to the Directorate of Assistance to Vulnerable Groups (DAV), worked inside the Mangueirão.
Police officers from the Urban Section of Marambaia, linked to the Metropolitan Police Directorate (DPM), with reinforced personnel, operated around the venue and internally. During the event, one person was arrested in the act by DPTGE agents for contempt, resistance, and threat, and another was arrested in the act for the crime of homophobia.
“A woman used foul language against the police and security after being prevented from accessing a restricted area of the main stage. She was informed about the possibility of being arrested in the act, yet she maintained her aggressive behavior and even threatened two police investigators, which is why she was charged in the act for the crimes of contempt, resistance, and threat in distinct contexts,” said delegate Marcos André Araújo, head of DPTGE.
Another woman was escorted by event security after making homophobic insults against a citizen. “According to the victim's account and three eyewitnesses, one of whom is a personal friend of the perpetrator, the woman committed insults based on the sexual orientation of the offended, which characterizes the crime of homophobia, equated to the crime of racism by the jurisprudence of the STF (Supreme Federal Court). Given the materiality and authorship, the escorted individual was charged in the act,” the delegate added.
Records - In the specialized unit, a Circumstantial Occurrence Term (TCO) was also filed for bodily injury, resulting from a conflict between event attendees, and four Police Occurrence Reports were registered for cell phone theft.
The work of the Deam team at the Stadium aimed to safeguard the rights of women, children, and adolescents in the face of any type of violence. “Our police acted preventively, distributing stickers from the 'No means No' campaign, and clarifying to the public the ways to report. In addition to promoting the Virtual Deam,” explained delegate Adriany Carvalho, who coordinated the team.
