Security Forces ensure tranquility at ‘Global Citizen’ this Saturday (1st) in Belém
Traffic actions, policing, and incident response
With an estimated audience of 50,000 people, the ‘Global Citizen’ event took place at the Estádio Olímpico Jornalista Edgar Proença, the “Mangueirão”, this Saturday (1st) featuring performances by international, national, and regional artists emphasizing environmental concerns, artists, and global leaders for sustainability. The event had a strong security scheme managed by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup).
The public security actions involved over 600 agents, both public and private, focused on ensuring the preservation of public order, safeguarding the integrity and enjoyment of the audience at Mangueirão. The head of Segup, Ualame Machado, highlighted the work.
“The security of the Global Citizen event is a clear example of how modern public security should operate: with proactive prevention and total collaboration. From the initial planning, we established a robust and transparent partnership with the event organization. This meticulous coordination allowed us to design a security scheme that focuses not only on response but primarily on the prevention of incidents,” he stated.
He added: “Our planning involved a detailed analysis of the audience flow, the definition of strategic control points, and the implementation of strict protocols to ensure that each stage of the event proceeds in an orderly and safe manner. Thanks to this integration between state forces and the organizers, we are ready to welcome the audience with the tranquility they deserve. Our mission is to ensure that the message of unity and citizenship from Global Citizen is conveyed in an environment of total peace and security,” he concluded.
Operation - The security strategy included increased policing and monitoring on access roads, traffic organization, maintenance of order in the stadium, and incident response by the Fans’ Police and Major Events Police. Additionally, the Operational Command Center (CCO) is activated with monitoring images from approximately 900 cameras in the stadium and surrounding areas, as well as facilitating communication between security forces.
Located in the stadium's box seats, on side B, the Control and Operational Command Center (CCO) of Mangueirão brings together the focal points of each force. From the CCO, it is possible to monitor the images from the cameras installed in the stadium and its surroundings, thus expediting responses to operational demands, if necessary.
The visible and preventive policing around and on the access roads to Mangueirão was carried out by the Military Police, with foot, mounted, and motorized patrols in four and two-wheeled vehicles. The Events Police Battalion will coordinate the troops responsible for maintaining public order. The Public Security Air Group (Graesp) conducted monitoring flights, supporting the ground teams.
Global Citizen Operation - The “Global Citizen” operation involves teams from Segup, through the Operational and Criminal Intelligence and Analysis secretariats, Graesp and Ciop; Military, Civil, and Scientific police; Detran; Military Fire Department and Seap; Seel; Federal Police; Municipal Guard; and Segbel, in an integrated action to ensure safety and tranquility for the audience and the population.
