Adepará reinforces alert about the deadline for herd identification and GTA regularization in Pará
In 60 days, only identified animals with GTA will be allowed to circulate. Agricultural transit will require tagging and registration in the SRBIPA.
The Agricultural Defense Agency of Pará (Adepará) warns Pará's rural producers about the 60-day countdown until the start of the official deadline that will make it mandatory to identify cattle and buffalo with tags — visual and electronic — and to regularize the Animal Transit Guide (GTA). This measure will take effect from January 1, 2026, as provided in the Cattle Traceability System of Pará (SRBPA).
According to Adepará, the Government of Pará is running an advertising campaign to guide breeders on the importance of tagging and updating the GTA. The recommendation is that producers do not leave the procedure and the registration of animals in the traceability system until the last minute.
"It is essential that the producer declares the number of animals they have and confirms the identification of the entire herd in transit by this deadline," emphasized Barbra Lopes, coordinator of Animal Registration and Traceability at Adepará.
For producers with up to 100 animals, the Government of Pará, through Adepará, will donate identification tags. Breeders with herds exceeding this number will be able to purchase the materials at agricultural supply stores registered with the Agency, distributed throughout the municipalities of Pará.
Adepará has been heavily investing in infrastructure to ensure the efficient execution of traceability in one of the largest herds in the country — the second in cattle, with over 26 million heads, and the first in buffalo, with over 800,000 animals. Among the actions, the delivery of 95 new vehicles and 16 boats stands out, in addition to the modernization of regional units and training of traceability operators (OPR), responsible for applying the tags to the animals.
According to the general director of Adepará, Jamir Macedo, the system developed by the Agency is robust and secure, hosted on the AWS (Amazon Web Services) platform, which ensures agility and data integrity.
"The system manages information about animals, producers, herds, vaccination, and issuance of guides. Traceability, focused on transit and animal health, is a pillar of the Sustainable Livestock Program, which seeks sanitary, socio-environmental integrity and legal security in rural production. It is an integrated action between the public sector, the third sector, and the private initiative to consolidate a high productivity and environmentally responsible livestock farming," said the manager.
