Nine days before the opening of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30), the Government of Pará participated this Saturday (1st) in the delivery of the new Outeiro Port in Belém. The structure, located in the Outeiro district, is prepared to receive two cruise ships with accommodation capacity for up to 5,000 conference participants, reinforcing the logistics of the event and leaving a permanent legacy to the state's tourism and port infrastructure.

The delivery agenda included the presence of Governor Helder Barbalho and the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In his speech, the head of the state executive highlighted the set of investments made in the capital to ensure the full operation of COP30 and the transformation of the city through structural works.

“Belém is advancing to, in this final stretch, have all the equipment ready to welcome those who will participate in the COP and, mainly, with extraordinary legacies that allow us to advance in the city's infrastructure. After the COP, four new cruises will start using this space. In addition, we have the airport, which doubled its reception capacity, the Metropolitan BRT with 265 new buses with air conditioning and wi-fi. Therefore, several agendas delivered, placing the Metropolitan Region and the capital in a much better condition,” said Helder Barbalho.

Executed by the Companhia Docas do Pará (CDP), the project modernized and expanded the port infrastructure: 11 dolphins were built, 10 metal bridges were installed, and the pier was extended from 261 to 716 meters, with a displacement capacity of 80,000 tons, double the previous capacity. The estimated investment is R$ 233 million, with work fronts operating 24 hours and completion in about six months, generating 745 direct and indirect jobs. The improvements position Outeiro as a new metropolitan logistics hub and expand the capacity for handling bulk and general cargo in Eastern Amazon.

Mobility reinforced with the Outeiro Bridge

Recently delivered by Governor Helder Barbalho, the new Outeiro Bridge is part of the infrastructure package for COP30 and already directly impacts the logistical operation of the event. With the structure fully operational, the route of the Exclusive COP30 buses between Outeiro and the City Park will be reduced by approximately 40 minutes, ensuring more fluidity, predictability, and safety in the movement of accredited individuals.

Legacy - In addition to serving the specific operation of COP30, the new structure expands docking and cargo flow, with a modern dock, berths, paved retro area, and storage yards. The advancement strengthens Pará's export matrix and stimulates urban and tourism development in Outeiro, creating a favorable environment for new economic activities and river and maritime tourism in the region.
