The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Department of Transit (Detran-PA), is implementing a special traffic operation to ensure urban mobility and safety during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held in Belém this November. The operational planning involves over 300 inspection agents and the use of specific technologies for the period, including body cameras, electronic ticket books, radios, and motorcycles acquired specifically for the conference.

The actions of Detran-PA are integrated into the joint effort of state security forces, focusing on escorting authorities, organizing traffic, and blocking roads at key points in the capital. The operation will be coordinated in real-time from the Integrated Control and Command Center of the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), with direct participation from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), responsible for official movements.

Strategic and integrated action

The COP30 Escort Center is already operational, under the coordination of the PRF, to ensure the safe movement of authorities participating in the conference. Detran-PA will operate with 34 agents directly involved in the escorts, including outriders and tactical support for readiness operations requested by the PRF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We are ready to execute all planned actions and ensure, together with partners from other security forces, safe and organized traffic throughout the Conference,” said Ivan Feitosa, operations coordinator of Detran-PA. According to him, the agency's actions are essential to ensure compliance with the security and mobility protocols established for the event.

Simulations and prior operation

The mobilization of teams begins this Saturday (1st), with operations in the traffic scheme for the Global Citizen Festival: Amazon, which takes place at the Olympic Stadium of Pará, the Mangueirão. On Sunday (2), a simulated exercise for escorting authorities will be conducted as preparation for the Climate Summit Meeting, scheduled for November 6 and 7, with the presence of heads of state and international leaders.

Starting next Monday (3), the Traffic Control Center set up near the City Park will be activated as a control base, concentrating real-time monitoring of the roads and directing emergency actions.

Support for official transport and traffic flow

In the district of Icoaraci, Detran-PA teams will provide logistical support to the official buses transporting COP30 delegates from Outeiro. Agents will be permanently active on the blocked roads, providing traffic guidance, inspection, and ensuring smooth access to the City Park, one of the main points of the COP30 program.

The operation reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to organization, safety, and mobility during one of the largest international events ever hosted by the state.
