The Oriximiná Menino Jesus Regional Hospital (HRMJ), in the Northern Corridor region, has already performed 2,647 X-ray exams between January and October 2025. This service is essential for diagnosing fractures, bone injuries, spinal deviations, and other musculoskeletal diseases, as well as assisting in identifying pulmonary, cardiac, and abdominal problems.

Among the patients benefiting is Franceilda Lisboa Nascimento, 54, a resident of the São José community in Oriximiná. A farmer, she sought care at the unit due to chronic back pain. “It’s the first time I’ve had an X-ray of my spine. I’ve been in pain for over two years and have even had episodes where I couldn’t walk. I decided to see a doctor to investigate the cause. The exam was very smooth, and with the results in hand, I will continue my treatment,” she reported.

The exam is the basis for diagnosis and therapeutic conduct

According to orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist Pedro Gomes, the X-ray is one of the most commonly used exams in medical practice and is fundamental for orthopedic work. “The X-ray is the most performed exam in orthopedics. It is essential for diagnosing fractures, dislocations, deformities, and bone tumors, as well as for post-surgical follow-up,” he stated.

The specialist also emphasizes that the exam helps define the therapeutic conduct.
“It is an easily executed exam with low risk. Through it, the doctor determines whether the patient will need surgery, what the best treatment is, and how the follow-up will be. In orthopedics, the X-ray is essential from diagnosis to medical discharge,” he added.

In addition to orthopedic use, X-rays are also used to detect respiratory diseases, cardiovascular issues, abdominal pain, dental cavities, and urological changes.

The unit offers specialized and humanized care

Inaugurated about a year ago, the Oriximiná Menino Jesus Regional Hospital (HRMJ) is a reference for orthopedic and traumatological care for the municipalities of the Northern Corridor. The unit has 26 inpatient beds, 16 observation beds, and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), providing comprehensive, free, and humanized assistance to the population.

In addition to orthopedic services, the hospital offers medical consultations in the specialties of anesthesiology, cardiology, general surgery, and gynecology through its outpatient clinic, ensuring complete health coverage 100% through the Unified Health System (SUS).
