After three editions that helped point the way for Belém in the search for a more sustainable relationship for the city's development, the Circular Forum is back. On the upcoming days of October 30 and 31, Casa da Linguagem will host the 2025 edition of the 4th Circular Forum – Heritage, Sustainability, and Climate, bringing the agenda of climate change to the center of the debate. The Forum is organized by the Circular Association, with master sponsorship from Lojas Renner S.A., and support from UFPA – Fórum Landi, ICA - and the State Government, through the Cultural Foundation of Pará - Casa da Linguagem.

In addition to the discussions and the creative fair at Casa da Linguagem, the Forum extends to Praça do Carmo, where the Project will feature DJ Jack Sainha and the Roda de Lambada with the Lambada Social Club. On the 1st, still under the atmosphere of the Forum, the Circular will also hold a special edition of Circuitinho at Praça da República. With a program open to the general public, the event emerges as a continuation and deepening of discussions about the relationship between city, heritage, and sustainability, focusing especially on the Historic Center of Belém.

Throughout the program, ways of managing and preserving urban heritage will be discussed with the participation of representatives from research institutions, government agencies, entrepreneurs, and community actors who live and think about the city from different perspectives. As in its previous editions, the Forum will result in a public document that will be presented to society and authorities.

For journalist Adelaide Oliveira, a member of the Circular Management Team and coordinator of the 4th Forum, the debates gain even more importance on the eve of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP30, in Belém.

"The Circular Forum has always deepened discussions about the problems and challenges of the Historic Center of Belém. It is no coincidence that the Forum has always had the word sustainability in its name. This year, it continues, but we include the word climate. It is an emblematic year for the city and for the whole world, in which discussions about climate change deepen. And we needed the Forum to also embrace this discussion that is so important. We talk about the impact on cities and, consequently, also about the Historic Center and Heritage," details Oliveira.

The central problem connecting the opening program and the seven debate tables of the Forum is the need to reconcile the use and appropriation of the Historic Center of Belém with sustainable and inclusive strategies that consider climate impacts on the territory and cultural practices. All of this considering issues such as the degradation of built heritage and gentrification, as well as the lack of urban planning that considers both economic and social and environmental demands.

The tables bring important themes to think about the city, such as heritage as territory and resistance, based on the action of the peripheries; the possibilities being pointed out by civil society and entrepreneurs in Belém towards a culture of sustainability and diversity; the impact of climate change on Amazonian cities and actions against rights violations; as well as the role of cultural initiatives in the face of the climate issue.

The edition also includes a look at Amazonian cinema as a tool for political imagination and cultural action in the face of the climate crisis. The program features a film showcase, curated and mediated by journalist and documentarian Luciana Medeiros, which will be followed by conversations with guests linked to the production of the films, such as "Boiuna," a short film by Adriana de Faria, co-produced by Marahu Filmes, "Tuire Kaiapó – The Gesture of the Machete," from Coletivo Beture, and "Cooking in the Heat of Belém Before the Rain," by Auda Piani, about the protagonism of women who preserve ancestral culinary knowledge in Belém and the islands of Caratateua, Combu, and Cotijuba. The showcase concludes with Histórias da Campina, by Larissa Ribeiro, a guest director of the Circular production, awarded with the LPG Belém grant.

By providing Casa da Linguagem as the venue for the Forum, the FCP actively reinforces its role as a catalyst for culture and public debate, making a prominent cultural facility available to foster critical discussions and the development of proposals aimed at valuing and requalifying the Historic Center, demonstrating a fundamental commitment to raising awareness and seeking solutions to the urban and environmental challenges that directly affect Pará society.
