Pará encourages the acquisition of electric cars with IPVA exemption for models up to R$ 150 thousand

The measure also exempts the payment of IPVA on motorcycles and mopeds of up to 200 cc, new and used, as long as the owner does not have another motor vehicle, and also reduces the tax rate for cars intended for rental.

Citizens of Pará interested in acquiring electric cars now have an additional incentive. Governor Helder Barbalho signed, this Tuesday (28), at the Palácio dos Despachos, state law number 11.233, dated 10/22/2025, which exempts the payment of the Tax on the Ownership of Motor Vehicles (IPVA) for electric motor vehicles valued up to R$ 150 thousand. With this, the government of Pará encourages the use of vehicles that consume cleaner energy and therefore contribute to a healthier environment.

"We are encouraging the consumption and purchase of electric cars in the State of Pará. Today, we sanctioned the law that exempts all cars up to R$ 150 thousand from IPVA. And motorcycles up to 200 cc will also have tax exemptions. With this, we stimulate people to renew, to have the condition, especially remembering that to have the exemption, there can be no infractions on the license. In addition, we are reducing the vehicle tax for rental cars, so that we can encourage these rental companies to buy cars in the State and also register them here in Pará," said the governor of Pará.

Electric cars offer several benefits that positively impact the environment and the economy. The main advantages include sustainability, high energy efficiency, savings on maintenance and fueling, and better performance.

Other exemptions

The same legal act exempts the payment of IPVA on motorcycles and mopeds of up to 200 cc, new and used, as long as their owner does not have another motor vehicle, a benefit to be granted progressively, according to the number of traffic infractions. The measure aims to encourage social behavior that respects traffic laws, reducing the occurrence of infractions.

The granting of the IPVA exemption in these cases will be as follows: full, at a percentage of 100% (one hundred percent) of the IPVA value, for motor vehicles that have not incurred traffic fines in the last two years; partial, at a percentage of 50% (fifty percent) of the IPVA value, for motor vehicles that have incurred one traffic fine in the last year; partial, at a percentage of 30% (thirty percent) of the IPVA due for motor vehicles, in other cases.

State Law 11.233/25 also reduces the IPVA rate from 2.5% to 1% for cars intended for rental, owned by rental companies, under a leasing contract, provided that the taxpayer is established in the State. The benefits take effect immediately.
