The Military Police of Pará carried out, this Friday (24), another approach action with the community, through the Community Safety Networks Program. The meeting took place in the area of operation of the 2nd Battalion of the PM, which covers eight neighborhoods in the central region of Belém, and aimed to strengthen dialogue with residents, merchants, and local representatives.

The project is an important strategy of Proximity Police, which seeks to bring the corporation closer to the population, encouraging mutual cooperation between citizens and police in crime prevention and promoting a culture of peace. The initiative is based on organizing residents of the same area, with the support of the Military Police, to share information, adopt preventive measures, and collaborate with police work.

Meeting with residents of Cidade Velha

Dialogue - During the meeting with the community, Lieutenant Colonel Allan Sullivan, commander of the 2nd BPM, highlighted the importance of direct dialogue with residents and the continuity of the partnership. "Today we had the great satisfaction of having coffee with the community served by the 2nd Battalion. There are eight neighborhoods that we monitor, including Cidade Velha, Campina, Reduto, Umarizal, São Brás, and now, Batista Campos. This moment was special because we renewed our partnership with residents, merchants, entrepreneurs, and market vendors. This union is essential for us to plan actions aimed not only at public safety but also at improving the quality of life of the people who live and work in this area," he stated.

Commander Sullivan also emphasized that meetings with the community are held periodically, with the participation of different social sectors, and that they result in targeted and sustainable actions. "The Community Safety Networks reinforce the role of the citizen as an active part in crime prevention. When the community and police work side by side, the results are visible: more tranquility, more trust, and a healthier social environment," he added.

The general commander of the Military Police of Pará, Colonel Sérgio Neves, highlighted that strengthening community policing directly reflects positive results in public safety throughout the State. "The Military Police has expanded its presence not only with ostensive actions but also with continuous proximity work with society. Projects like the Community Safety Networks strengthen this partnership and contribute to reducing crime rates, as the citizen becomes a fundamental part of the process of prevention and collective protection," stated the colonel.
