Interns of the Metropolitan BRT will guide users and support the operation of the new integrated transportation system
Young people from Santa Izabel, Santa Bárbara, and Benevides will work on the front lines of public service, ensuring information and support at the start of the BRT operation
With the arrival of the Metropolitan BRT, the Government of Pará, through the State Regulatory and Control Agency of Public Services of Pará (Arcon), begins a new phase of service and guidance for the population using public transportation in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. Young high school students, selected as interns, will work directly at the points and terminals of the system, assisting passengers in adapting to the new urban mobility model.
The students' work is part of the operational plan for the deployment of the Metropolitan BRT, which will integrate the municipalities of Santa Izabel do Pará, Santa Bárbara do Pará, Benevides, Marituba, Ananindeua, Castanhal, and Belém. They will be responsible for guiding the public on routes, connections, digital ticketing, and the use of stations, ensuring a smooth and safe transition for users.
Young people as a bridge between the new system and users
According to the General Director of Arcon, Eduardo Ribeiro, the interns play an essential role in the deployment process of the Metropolitan BRT. “These young people will be the first to welcome users, answer questions about routes and new payment methods. Each will have the mission of facilitating the use of the system and contributing to the efficient and humanized operation of transportation,” he emphasized.
The Director of Metropolitan Transportation at Arcon, Gilberto Barbosa, reinforced that the work of the interns complements the modernization of the system. “Mobility is fundamental for citizens and for economic development. While we ensure a faster and more integrated service, we are training young people to be aware of the social role of public transportation,” he stated.
Integrated and accessible system
The new system will connect the municipalities of the Metropolitan Region through feeder and trunk lines, with total integration at the Marituba Terminal. Benevides will have three feeder lines, and Santa Bárbara and Santa Izabel will each have one line.
Users will be able to transfer at the terminal and access other routes with the payment of a single fare of R$ 4.60. The system will feature exclusive electronic ticketing, with payment options via digital card, mobile app, or cash.
Social impact and learning opportunity
In addition to guiding the population, the internship represents a professional and citizenship experience for the students. “It’s something unprecedented for me and for Santa Izabel, which will now have its own urban system. Being able to help people understand and use the BRT is very rewarding,” said Ruberth Padilha, 17, a resident of Santa Izabel do Pará.
Daniela Cavalcante, 17, from Santa Bárbara, emphasizes the social impact of the new system. “I want to help people who have difficulty with transportation. The BRT will greatly improve mobility, and I want to contribute by guiding those in need,” she stated.
The Metropolitan BRT is the largest investment in public transportation ever made in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and brings an unprecedented structure to the State, with integration terminals, exclusive corridors, walkways, accessible stations, and a modern ticketing system.
