Students from Dom Pedro II School participate in cultural experience at Arthur Vianna Library
The pedagogical activity involved 47 students and reinforced access to reading and culture in Belém
Elementary and high school students from Dom Pedro II State School, located in the Marco neighborhood of Belém, participated this Friday (24) in a guided visit to the Arthur Vianna Public Library, at the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP), within Centur. The initiative is part of the activities to conclude the school term.
The action involved 47 students, aged between 12 and 17, who were able to explore various areas of the library, such as the comic book section, the sound library, the toy library, and also participated in a special session at the Cine Líbero Luxardo, also maintained by the FCP. The goal of the visit was to stimulate the habit of reading, promote contact with different artistic languages, and bring students closer to the cultural spaces of the capital.
Library as a gateway to multiple readings
Recognized as a center of memory, reading, and popular culture, the Arthur Vianna Library offers the public diverse collections, educational activities, and actions to encourage reading. Daily, the space welcomes students and visitors interested in learning more about the culture and history of Pará.
During the visit, the students from Dom Pedro II School participated in dynamics in environments aimed at different audiences and reading styles. The sound library, for example, is considered the first in the Amazon and the second oldest in Brazil, created in 1987. The place houses a valuable sound collection that expands access to information and culture.
“Today we had the opportunity to welcome students from Dom Pedro II School, who experienced reading activities in the comic book section, the sound library, and the children's area. This visit was very relevant, as it is also a way to promote these environments and allow students to have a worldview that goes beyond the printed book,” emphasized Marinilde Barbosa, director of Reading and Information at FCP.
Education beyond the classroom
For the vice-principal of Dom Pedro II School, Karina Bordalo, the activity provided a significant experience for the students, especially as it involved spaces that many had not yet known.
“It was wonderful to provide our students with a different experience, taking advantage of a cultural space. Today, we are concluding a stage, and moments like this, with a movie session, are very important because many of our students had never been to a cinema. It was a unique experience, with access to enriching pedagogical and cultural activities,” said the manager.
