The Pará Sanitation Company (Cosanpa) reinforced the State's leadership in the sustainable development agenda during the webinar "External Financing at COP30 - Integrated Policies for Sustainable Development in the Amazon," promoted by the Ministry of Planning and Budget, from October 20 to 23. At the event, the Company presented the Pará Sanitation Development Project - Lagos Stage (Prodesan Pará - Lagos), aimed at expanding the sewage system in Belém and protecting the Bolonha and Água Preta water sources, which supply more than one million people in the capital and in Ananindeua.

Presented by the project's environmental and social coordinator, Cleide Ferreira, Prodesan Pará - Lagos already has approved loans from two international banks, reinforcing the experience of the Pará government in executing sanitation actions with external financing. For the president of Cosanpa, Colonel Dilson Júnior, the initiative is an example of efficient management and commitment to social development and institutional sustainability. "The execution of Prodesan Lagos is at an advanced stage. This expertise confirms that we are on the right track to overcome the challenges of sanitation with efficient management for social development and institutional sustainability," he stated.

The general coordinator of the project, Ronaldo Bitar, highlighted that the Company's participation in the webinar "was a valuable opportunity to promote Prodesan Lagos and reinforce its importance for Pará society, in addition to enabling the exchange of experiences between different projects funded with external resources throughout the country." The initiative also highlights the commitment of the Pará government to public policies that integrate sanitation, sustainability, and human development, aligned with the objectives of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held in Belém in November.

The webinar focused on training state and municipal managers in structuring projects with external financing, aimed at integrated public policies for the Amazon region and indigenous peoples, with an emphasis on climate, biodiversity, socio-bioeconomics, resilient cities, and social inclusion. Over four days, discussions were held on sustainability, social inclusion, and the valorization of indigenous territories.

The event also addressed actions from the Amazon Always Program, from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), which aims to accelerate sustainable development through financial support for strategic initiatives in the Brazilian Legal Amazon. The program concluded this Thursday (23), with the presentation of projects approved by the External Financing Commission (Cofiex) of the federal government, focusing on actions and programs with a positive environmental impact in urban and rural areas.
