The teacher from the State Department of Education (Seduc), Ariete Moraes Rocha Ribeiro, from the State Indigenous School of Early Childhood, Elementary, and High School Jathiati Parkatêjê, located in the Indigenous Land Mãe Maria, in the municipality of Bom Jesus do Tocantins, was one of six national winners of the Toda Matéria Award – Teacher of the Year 2025, receiving an honorable mention for the project “Educational Robotics Krintuwakatêjê.”

With dedication and commitment, teacher Ariete breaks barriers and contributes significantly to the protagonism of indigenous students. Her educational practices value traditional knowledge, strengthen cultural identities, and promote conscious and sustainable learning.

Teacher Ariete highlighted the importance of recognition and shared the merits with the entire school team and the students. "The feeling is one of gratitude, and the certainty that the work is being fulfilled in favor of quality education for our students, as their effort in facing new learning is the greatest reward I can have. And there will be more projects coming up," she said.

The awarded project uses technology as a tool for valuing and revitalizing indigenous cultural identity, uniting tradition and innovation. Through robotics, students create and program robots, games, and animations that teach and strengthen the Jê language and other elements of Gavião culture.

The Toda Matéria Award is a national initiative supported by Santander, Ciranda Cultural, and Estante Virtual, which recognizes educators with innovative and transformative practices. Teacher Ariete's project was submitted by Portuguese Language teacher, Augusto Nogueira Ribeiro, who recognizes and admires the teacher's work for the way she combines technology, culture, and identity in the classroom.

In addition to the unprecedented achievement for indigenous school education in Pará, teacher Ariete was also invited by Sebrae, in partnership with TV Sim from Belo Horizonte (MG), to share her experiences on Entrepreneurial Education and the challenges of using technology and artificial intelligence in indigenous communities.

The teacher also acknowledged the support of the school's management team, the Educational Technology Center (NTE) of Marabá, and the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), which have been fundamental partners in implementing pedagogical and technological actions.

Indigenous Education in the Spotlight

The 2025 school year has been marked by various actions and projects that highlight the protagonism of the students of the Jathiati Parkatêjê School. One of the recent highlights was the first participation of an indigenous school from Pará in the International Distance Robotics Championship (CIRDI) and Culture Tech, where the students reached the quarter-finals, competing with public and private schools from all over Brazil.
