Metropolitan Hospital promotes first aid training for professionals in the public education network
Action held at the Municipal School Senator Álvaro Adolfo, in Ananindeua, reinforces the importance of prevention and preparedness in emergency situations

As part of the social actions outside the walls aimed at prevention and awareness about workplace accidents and various types of trauma, the Metropolitan Emergency Hospital (HMUE), a health unit of the Government of Pará, held an educational activity on accident prevention and first aid with professionals from the Municipal Elementary School Senator Álvaro Adolfo, located in Ananindeua, on Wednesday (22).
The meeting was attended by 25 staff members from the educational institution, who received practical and theoretical guidance provided by the hospital's Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine (SESMT) team, composed of safety technicians and civil firefighters.
Physical Education teacher Cristiane Falcão highlighted the relevance of the initiative for the school environment. "It is very important to have this in all schools. Having trained people at the moment of an emergency, who can assist a child, is extremely important. Institutions, in general, should indeed promote actions like this for first aid."

Meanwhile, the school principal, Carmem Lúcia Maranhão, reinforced the positive impact of the action for the entire team. "This action was fundamental to open our eyes and expand our knowledge. Through it, we realized the importance of having lectures and first aid training with our staff, ensuring more preparedness and safety in the work environment."
The HMUE Support Coordinator, William Bendelak, explained that the training is part of a calendar of external actions scheduled to take place throughout the year, aimed at bringing the hospital closer to the community and disseminating prevention practices.
"The Metropolitan has a commitment that goes beyond the walls of the hospital. Our calendar of external actions seeks to bring information and training to different audiences, strengthening the culture of safety and accident prevention. These activities directly contribute to saving lives and creating more prepared environments to act in emergency situations."

Civil firefighter Jonilson Matos, a member of the SESMT team and responsible for delivering the training, emphasized the importance of practical knowledge in the initial care of victims.
"The first response can make all the difference. When a person is prepared to act calmly and safely, the chances of saving a life increase significantly. The goal of these actions is precisely to train people to know how to react correctly in the face of an emergency."
The initiative is part of the annual action plan of HMUE, managed by the National Institute for Social and Human Development (INDSH), which seeks to promote health, safety, and citizenship through educational, preventive, and awareness activities in different spaces of society.
