Security actions developed through the Integrated River Base of Candiru, installed in Óbidos, seized about 13 tons of fish being transported by a vessel coming from Amazonas destined for Santarém, Pará, on the morning of Monday, the 20th. The agents, coordinated by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the Public Security River Group (Gflu), continuously monitor vessels crossing the Lower Amazon region.

“All actions are coordinated so that inspections in the river network of Óbidos occur daily, allowing us to identify this type of illegal cargo and thus combat not only violent crimes, drug trafficking, but also environmental crimes,” said the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.

Seizure - The joint action between the agents of the Public Security River Group (Gflu), along with a team from the Military Police, conducted an approach on the vessel “Zequeu III,” which was navigating the Amazon River coming from Parintins destined for Santarém, where they identified a cargo of approximately 13 tons of fish without legal documentation. The material was taken to the Civil Police unit for the necessary procedures and subsequently sent to the municipal Health Surveillance where it is being analyzed for possible donation to the riverside communities in the region.
