The Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater-Pará), delivered the Rural Environmental Registration (CAR) this weekend to eight farming families from the Tracuateua Community in the municipality of Bujaru, in the northeastern region of the state.

The CAR is a mandatory instrument that regularizes rural properties based on environmental and territorial information, and enables producers to access public policies such as rural credit, financing, and agricultural insurance.

Access to rights and strengthening production

With the delivery of the document, farmers now have better conditions to access credit lines aimed at strengthening the production of cassava, flour, corn, and beans — predominant crops in the area.

For family farmer José Benício, a producer of cassava and flour, the initiative represents a significant advancement in the life of the small farmer.

“We have received this support from Emater for four years, and since then, the technicians have helped us a lot. We received our National Family Agriculture Registrations (CAF) and now we are receiving the CAR, which guarantees us ownership of our lands and our rights. It is very gratifying for our community,” he stated.

With the documentation in hand, farmers hope to advance in obtaining financing from financial institutions.

“Our intention is to seek, with the support of Emater, projects that finance our properties. Here, we work a lot with the production of cassava, flour, corn, and beans from the colony. So, we want to improve our productions, with access to public policies that are our rights,” José added.

Coordination with financing agents

The delivery took place during a meeting with family farmers served by the Local Office of Emater in Marituba, which supports the community. The meeting was attended by the Executive Board of Emater, the Regional Supervisor of the Islands, the technical team from the Esloc of Marituba, and a representative from the Bank of the Amazon.

According to Jorge Augusto, head of the Esloc of Marituba, the action focused not only on the delivery of the CAR but also on strengthening the relationship between producers and credit agents.

“We delivered the CAR documents to the selected farmers and had the presence of the manager of the Bank of the Amazon, who provided guidance on the proper use of rural credit and clarified doubts about the various credit lines available to them,” he explained.

The initiative is part of the ongoing actions of the Government of Pará in support of family agriculture, promoting productive inclusion, legal security, and access to public policies in rural areas.
