On this Sunday (19), the Hospital da Mulher do Pará (HMPA) promoted the I October Pink Walk, in homage to World Breast Cancer Awareness Day, a date that is part of the annual Health calendar. The event is part of the state campaign "Come Take Care of Yourself," from the Pará State Department of Public Health (Sespa), and brought together health professionals and the community at the Utinga State Park in Belém to strengthen the alert about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of the disease.

Opened in March of this year, HMPA has already established itself as a reference in women's health care, recording about 2,900 mammograms performed in just seven months of operation, a number that reflects the hospital's commitment to the comprehensive health of women.

Among the participants was artisan Daniela Farias, from the Terra Firme neighborhood in Belém, who highlighted the relevance of the October Pink actions. "The October Pink movement is of great importance, as it raises awareness about breast cancer. Actions like this serve as a reminder for us, women, to learn more about the subject and to spread the word to others, so that everyone understands the importance of prevention and also the work that the Hospital da Mulher does," she stated.

Daniela revealed that she has not yet had the exam this year, but that the event served as an incentive. "I confess that I am behind on my mammogram, but I will organize myself to do it this month," she assured.

Nurse Bruna Silva, who works at HMPA, made a point of participating in the symbolic act. "This walk is a reminder that we need to take care of ourselves every day. The initiative helps many women to become aware, to love themselves, and to take care of their own health, also inspiring others at home," highlighted the professional.

For the general director of the Hospital da Mulher do Pará, intensivist doctor Nelma Machado, the moment was one of celebration and reaffirmation of the hospital's role as a promoter of health and well-being.

"Our commitment goes beyond treatment. We want every woman to feel welcomed, informed, and motivated to take care of herself. This walk represents the symbolic step of many real journeys of prevention and overcoming that we witness every day here at HMPA," she emphasized.
