The third programming related to Children's Month, promoted through the "It's Friday in Pediatrics" Project, at Dr. Roberto Macedo Emergency Room (PSRM), in Belém, addressed the theme "Sustainability" with the hospitalized children this Friday (17). The initiative by the Humanization Commission managed to release the patients for the "Environmental Trail", an activity that, in a playful way, showed the children the importance of preserving the environment.

The initiative is part of the programming related to the month dedicated to children

According to the Humanization analyst at PSRM, sociologist Watuzi Rebelo da Silva, the activities of "It's Friday in Pediatrics" in October were carefully designed to be celebrations with socio-educational impact. "The activities this month of 'It's Friday in Pediatrics' are even more special because it is the month dedicated to children. Today, the Humanization and Sustainability Commissions came together to talk about Sustainability for children aged 2 to 13, focusing on the importance of environmental preservation. Not all children were able to participate, but those who were released, according to their clinical condition, participated in a playful manner, playing and learning about this very important subject. To further cheer up the little ones, we distributed toys to all present, who had a special end of the afternoon," informed the analyst.

Maria Laila Sodré de Oliveira, 7 years old, a resident of the municipality of Castanhal, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, participated in the "Environmental Trail", a double game with advancing stages as the children answered questions related to the environment and its preservation. The girl showed interest in the activity and achieved the highest performance on recycling, being one of the winners, using many teachings passed on by her father.

"For those who are already in the hospital in a very difficult situation, moments of leisure and joy for the children make all the difference. This initiative was very beautiful. By the way, congratulations to the commissions that had this idea, because the child feeds the mind with what they hear, and also grows with what they learn, as the information ends up staying in their little heads. Laila talked about recycling. The information stayed in her mind about this subject. These actions add up and generate a great construction of knowledge. I thought it was very cool and I really liked today's programming," said Lailda Lopes Sodré, Laila's mother.

Seeds of awareness - "Working with environmental education is already a constant practice for us, and being able to bring this learning to children makes everything even more significant. Even in delicate moments, it is possible to teach while playing, plant seeds of awareness, and inspire attitudes that can blossom in the future," emphasized environmental engineer Rayane Pereira, president of the Sustainability Commission of PSRM.

In the coming Fridays, the programming related to Children's Month will include activities conducted by professionals from the Dentistry and Physiotherapy teams, with dynamics, games, and playful activities related to the areas of expertise of these professionals, creating an environment of relaxation, joy, and interaction among the children attended at the Pediatric Inpatient Unit of the Emergency Room.

Service: Managed by the Acqua Institute, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), PSRM is a reference in urgent and emergency clinical care in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, and in the districts and neighborhoods surrounding Avenida Augusto Montenegro, where the health unit is located, offering 119 beds distributed among emergency services (adult and pediatric), hospitalizations, and ICUs, as well as six surgical rooms equipped for medium and high complexity procedures, including minimally invasive ones, such as videolaparoscopy, which reduces recovery and hospitalization time.
