The Pará short film “Boiuna”, awarded three kikitos at the Gramado Film Festival in 2025, will have a special screening next Monday (20), starting at 4 PM, at the Núcleo de Oficinas Curro Velho, located in the Telégrafo neighborhood in Belém. The screening will feature the presence of director Adriana de Faria, who will participate in a chat with attendees after the session, mediated by indigenous activist Tel Guajajara, who will discuss the importance of expanding and valuing cinema made in the Amazon region.

Produced in Pará and with a predominantly local team, the short film stands out for its magical realism, which blends ancestry, resistance, and the protagonism of Amazonian women. The film was shot in locations such as Benevides, Benfica, and the Island of Combu, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém.

The story revisits the legend of the Cobra Grande from a contemporary perspective and won three important awards at the Gramado Film Festival (2025), including Best Direction for Adriana de Faria, Best Actress (shared between Naieme and Jhanyffer Santos), and Best Cinematography for Thiago Pelaes.

The screening is open to the public, and no tickets or prior registration are required, and it is part of the project “Amazônia em Rede”, which aims to value the art and culture produced in the Amazon region. According to the project's creator, Gabriel Jhonatta, there are many people in the peripheries who produce art and others who want to start producing but still lack opportunities, which is why the project offers this complete cycle.

"We do everything for free for the population, precisely because we know that both
to consume many of these things are expensive, like a ticket to the cinema, museum
or theater, and to produce as well, since the materials and courses in the market have a
very high value," highlights Gabriel.

More courses and exhibition - Also next week, from October 21 to 23, Amazônia em Rede will also start its training circuit, with a course on Amazonian Audiovisual Creation.

The workshop will be taught by visual artist and filmmaker Matheus Clima, divided into three days in which participants will learn about accessible techniques for capturing image and sound, editing practices in free applications, and creating short films that value the stories of the region and experiment with new languages.

To participate, interested individuals must register for free through an online form
available here. The course will be held at the Faculty of Visual Arts of the Federal University of Pará (FAV/UFPA), on all three days, from 9 AM to 12 PM.

In addition to the screening and the course, the second edition of the project has an extensive program that starts in October and goes until February 2026. Courses in Documentary Photography are planned, where participants will be able to produce photographic essays that express identities, memories, and Amazonian daily life, and in Techno Amazonities, which proposes an immersion in sound experimentation through the fusion of techno and Amazonian rhythms.

For the exhibitions, artists from the Amazon region will be selected through a public notice
to have their photography and audiovisual works exhibited in spaces in Belém and in
Soure, in Marajó. Interested individuals can follow the project's activities on
Instagram @amazoniaemrede.

The second edition of Amazônia em Rede is a project selected by the Public Notice for the Promotion of the Circulation of Cultural Projects of the National Aldir Blanc Policy (PNAB). It is carried out by the Ministry of Culture and 3x1 Produções, and has the support of the State Secretariat of Culture of Pará (Secult) and the Foundation for Support and Development of Research (Fadesp).
