After fire, Scientific Police of Pará conducts forensic examination at DSEI Guamá-Tocantins building in Belém
The forensic team was called to identify the cause of the fire that occurred last Tuesday (14) and assess the extent of the damage caused by the flames

Criminal experts from the Applied Engineering Center of the Scientific Police of Pará (PCEPA) conducted a forensic examination at the building of the Special Indigenous Health District (DSEI) Guamá-Tocantins, located on Conselheiro Furtado Avenue, in Belém, on the morning of this Friday (17). The site was hit by a fire last Tuesday (14).
The fire was controlled by the Fire Department of Pará on the same day, with no injuries reported. The forensic team was called to identify the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage caused by the flames after the building was completely cooled down.

“We examined the site looking to identify the fire's origin zone, assess the risk of collapse, and determine whether the fire was intentional, accidental, or the result of maintenance failure in equipment. Based on these analyses, we will issue a technical report to support the police investigation,” explained criminal expert and civil engineer, André Brasil.
During the action, the experts conducted a thorough analysis of the affected structure, with photographic records of the building, inspection of the power panels, and evaluation of the electrical wiring. The DSEI Guamá-Tocantins, linked to the Ministry of Health, is responsible for basic healthcare for indigenous people and for distributing supplies to villages in 45 municipalities in Pará. According to the district coordinator, Purupramare Gavião, the estimated loss just from medications destroyed by the fire amounts to about one million reais.

“The initial focus of the fire started in the lobby and spread rapidly. The firefighters acted quickly. We suspect it was an electrical problem, but confirmation depends on the forensic report,” stated the coordinator.
