State Government highlights projects that transform Pará with technological innovation

Sectet strengthens the science ecosystem with solutions that stimulate economic and social growth in the Pará territory

The State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher, Professional and Technological Education (Sectet) has been driving projects that place technology at the center of Pará's development. Through initiatives that combine innovation, education, and entrepreneurship, the State Government strengthens the science and technology ecosystem, promoting solutions that positively impact society and stimulate economic and social growth in all regions of Pará.

According to the head of Sectet, Victor Dias, the commitment is to make technology a tool for social transformation. “We believe that by investing in education, innovation, and entrepreneurship, we are creating real opportunities for young people and adults throughout Pará to develop their ideas, generate businesses, and contribute to state growth. Each project we support reflects our effort to build a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable future,” he states.

Startup Pará encourages entrepreneurship

Among the highlighted projects is Startup Pará, a program that supports entrepreneurs and startups with the potential for positive social and technological impact. Recently, the program promoted Innovation Marathons, which brought together teams from different municipalities to develop technological solutions for proposed challenges. The 20 best ideas now advance to the "Incubation Stage," receiving scholarships and mentoring to transform prototypes into viable products.

Startup Pará also held the 1st edition of the Innovation Caravan, bringing together students and entrepreneurs from Bragança and Tucuruí at the Guamá Science and Technology Park. The initiative brought local ecosystems - a network of ideas and new businesses - closer to the opportunities of the PCT, strengthening connections, expanding the partnership network, and reinforcing the formation of new entrepreneurs.

Technical education as a foundation for the future

Technology is also advancing in the classrooms of state public schools. The State Network of Technical Schools of Pará (EETEPA), coordinated by Sectet, has 36 units distributed throughout the State, offering courses in Integrated, Subsequent, and Proeja modalities. In addition to professional training, EETEPAs promote scientific exhibitions, innovation fairs, and sustainability projects.

“Technical schools play a strategic role in Pará's education: they train professionals for the market and stimulate students' protagonism in creating innovative solutions,” highlights Washington Berg, director of Professional and Technological Education at Sectet.

Science and technology: experimentation and protagonism

The Science and Technology Caravan brings science, technology, and innovation to schools, cultural spaces, and communities throughout Pará. Since 2022, the project has already visited 24 municipalities and 45 locations, certifying more than 21,000 students.

The initiative offers practical workshops, scientific experiments, robotics activities, programming, and technology, in addition to the Science Fair, where students present their own experiments, exercising creativity, research, and protagonism. The Caravan also seeks to awaken vocations in STEM areas (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), bringing young people closer to innovation opportunities and contributing to the formation of more critical citizens prepared for future challenges.

In line with the Caravan's proposal, the Amazon Maker Project expands the reach of science and technology actions by offering practical learning experiences. With equipped laboratories in the 36 Technical Schools of the State, and also in the current 17 Peace Factories, the project provides workshops in Computer Science, programming and robotics, modeling and 3D printing, as well as digital influencer training, awakening participants' interest in innovation and experimentation, contributing to the educational and professional qualification of students and communities.

First Technological Park in the North

An initiative of the Government of Pará, through Sectet, the Guamá Science and Technology Park (PCT Guamá) is one of the main initiatives of the Government of Pará in the area of technology and innovation. The Park's mission is to promote integration between government, universities, and the productive sector, stimulating applied research, innovative entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in Pará.

It is the first technological park in the Northern Region and stands out for bringing together companies, startups, and laboratories dedicated to creating solutions aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Pará. Currently, PCT Guamá houses more than 30 resident companies and 40 associates, in addition to 12 research and development laboratories that work in partnership with institutions. The Park also serves as a reference for the Aces Tapajós Innovation Center (Ciat) in Santarém, expanding the interiorization of science and technology.

Integrated with the National Association of Promoters of Innovative Enterprises (Anprotec) and the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (Iasp), PCT Guamá consolidates Sectet's role as a strategic leader in strengthening the Amazon's innovation ecosystem.

The initiatives reinforce the Government of Pará's commitment to using technology as a tool for inclusion, innovation, and social transformation, generating opportunities and strengthening regional development.
