Integrated Center of Sespa announces balance of integrated health actions during Círio
Integrated Operations and Health Control Center (CIOCS) monitored and ensured quick responses during the three days of public health actions

The Government of Pará, through the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), concluded, this Monday (13), the activities of the Integrated Operations and Health Control Center (CIOCS), which operated for three days to ensure public health safety during the Círio de Nazaré 2025.
The structure, activated last Friday (10), in partnership with the Municipal Health Department of Belém (Sesma) and other institutions, operated in an integrated manner, monitoring in real time the services provided at health posts and services during the Trasladação and Círio processions.

During the operational period, CIOCS maintained constant vigilance. Monitoring actions occurred in an organized and preventive manner, with full integration among the teams. On Friday (10), the first day of operation, all monitoring channels functioned normally. On Saturday (11), through the Saúde Pará tool, 207 services were reported, totaling 250 records at health posts and services.
On Sunday (12), the day of Círio, 377 services were performed and 10 removals were made at ten service posts located at strategic points. Among the recorded occurrences, there was one case of a knife accident near the procession, with a quick dispatch of an ambulance from Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) for assistance and transport of the victim. A case of suspected rotavirus in a one-year-old child treated at one of the State's hospitals was also reported. The case is under monitoring by the Hospital Epidemiological Surveillance Nucleus of the unit.
According to the coordinator of CIEVS Pará, Veronilce Borges da Silva, the balance of activities was highly positive.

“We managed to develop all planned actions, monitor services in the main health services and at the service points of the processions. We tested our workflows and the integration between the Sespa and Sesma teams was very positive, ensuring an efficient response to the situations that occurred. This experience reinforces our capacity for monitoring and response in large mass events,” highlighted Veronilce.
CIOCS had about 15 professionals per day, including technicians from CIEVS Pará, teams from the technical areas of Sespa and Sesma, and representatives from partner institutions. Over the three days, the structure ensured real-time information management, analysis of epidemiological data, and coordination of quick responses, ensuring vigilance, prevention, and agility in assistance actions.

In the assessment of the State Secretary of Public Health, Ivete Vaz, the result reflects the commitment of the Government of Pará to the health safety of the population. “CIOCS represents an important milestone in the integrated management of health during large events. Círio is the largest religious event in Brazil and requires a joint effort from municipal and state spheres to ensure the well-being of pilgrims and visitors. The performance of CIOCS demonstrates that Pará is prepared to respond efficiently to any situation involving public health,” said the secretary.
With a modern and integrated structure, CIOCS has a monitoring room equipped with cutting-edge technology, a command and strategic coordination room, space for the rapid response team, and a rest area for professionals. During the processions, the team monitored the movement of the faithful, the flow of medical services, and the demands forwarded by accredited posts and hospitals, contributing to a safer and better-assisted Círio de Nazaré.
Recognized as the largest Catholic procession in the world, the Círio de Nazaré gathered about 2.3 million people in 2025, according to the Festival Directorate. The event, which mobilizes the entire capital of Pará, requires meticulous planning and integration of the management spheres of SUS, as guided by Ordinance No. 1,139/2013 of the Ministry of Health, which defines guidelines for surveillance, prevention, and response to public health risks during large events.
With the conclusion of activities, CIOCS consolidates itself as an essential tool for coordination and response in public health, reinforcing the commitment of the Government of Pará to ensure care, prevention, and safety for the faithful participating in the largest manifestation of faith in the Amazon.
