Suspect was caught in the act and presented at the DRCO

The Civil Police of Pará, through the Delegacy for the Suppression of Bank Robberies and Anti-Kidnapping (DRRBA), linked to the Division for the Suppression of Organized Crime (DRCO), carried out the flagrant arrest of a man this Friday (10) in Marituba for the crimes of extortion and psychological and property violence, under the terms of the Maria da Penha Law.

Teams from the specialized unit became aware of the case from a report that initially pointed to the suspect as a victim of a possible extortion crime through kidnapping. According to the initial report, the man had been kidnapped shortly after leaving to work as an app driver.

The man's wife began receiving messages from her husband's own number, demanding the payment of R$ 35,000 for the release of the supposed victim, still on Thursday (9). As time passed, the threats intensified, and on Friday morning (10), the woman went to the Urban Section of Mosqueiro to file a report.

From the formal report, the information was passed to the specialized unit, which immediately began to act on the case. “During the investigations, the DRRBA teams identified inconsistencies in the information provided, confirming that the man had not been kidnapped and was in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, normally performing his activity as an app driver,” explained Delegate Augusto Potiguar, director of the DRCO.

Finally, it was discovered that the supposed victim was posing as the kidnappers, using his phone to send messages and extort his partner, simulating the crime of kidnapping to try to obtain undue economic advantage. In light of the facts, the suspect was monitored by the DRRBA teams, being located and arrested in the act on BR-316, in the municipality of Marituba, while still posing as victim/kidnapper in conversation with his partner through a messaging app.

The man was taken to the DRRBA headquarters, where a flagrant arrest record was drawn up for the crimes of extortion and psychological and property violence, under the terms of the Maria da Penha Law, and is now at the disposal of Justice.
